Default Strosek color change, differences between Cobalt Blue and Iris Blue?

I'm thinking about repainting the Strosek with in either Cobalt blue metallic or Iris blue metallic (GTS). From the pictures it's hard to tell the difference between the colors.

Anyone with experience between the difference in colors? In some pictures the Cobalt looks to have a purple hue.

Cobalt

Iris

My interior is burgundy but I'm looking at a two tone but black/gray instead of blue/gray.

I'm not sure what color gray carpet went with the rear seats pictured.

First two are Cobalt, 2nd two Iris.

Thanks,
Glenn

+3 on Iris, it is the most amazing hue of blue I've ever seen. Looks stunning when properly polished and a head turner.

I'd love to see an Iris blue in person. Sam's old car is Iris blue, I think it is in CT.

Cheers,
Glenn

Iris blue has a hint more magenta in it, just as classic grey (the rear bolsters you display above). The two play very well together.

You can also combine Iris Blue with light grey, as show in the above picture. Or you could go with silver grey, which is a bit of a "cooler" grey.

Given a choice, I would not use the cobalt blue in the interior of an Iris blue car, because the two are neither similar enough, nor really different to play off of each other.

First off, the pictures and links you have for the colors are mixed up.

Second, you won't find a good picture of Iris Blue Metallic. The metallic in it just doesn't photograph accurately.

Iris Blue is darker than Cobalt Blue, but lighter than Lapis blue, which is lighter than Midnight blue.

My car is the one you have from the registry that is Iris Blue GTS with the pinstripe on the fender. It has Classic Gray interior, yes classic gray has a magenta tone to it.

Picture above shows the rear of Cobalt blue in front of my Iris Blue in the same light at the Dallas Breakfast.

Pictures above and my Avatar is about as accurate a picture as I could muster and it still doesn't look quite like it does in person.

Ed,
I may take you up on that. I have my 30 High school reunion in New London on September 12th. I'm planning on driving the Strosek up the 11th. I'm not sure how much my wife would like a detour

They are both great colors!

Nicole,
I would go classic gray seats and black for rest of the interior, carpet choices for German Velour in gray are http://928leathershop.com/carpet2/ge...ur__carpet.htm

Gray and Oyster may go the best, others seem to light or dark.

In silverknit http://928leathershop.com/carpet/sli...forporsche.htm I didn't see a silver gray. marble or hela look nice?

Looks like Porsche changed Lapis over the years also.

Thanks for all the help!

Glenn

+whatever the number is up to now for Iris blue. I believe it is very slightly darker than cobalt blue, and has a hint more purple when the light hits it the right way. This is the reason you can't properly convey it in a photograph. When I had my Iris Blue 968, people were falling over themselves to compliment. I had young girls singing to me from afar when I went to a drive-through fast food place once My girlfriend at the time was not amused.

When polished Iris has a candy appearance to it in the right light and I think this is the reason it looks so stunning. No matter the lighting the color does not disappoint. If there was any other color I could have on my GT it would be Iris Blue.
