This car is going to a dismantler tomorrow (Friday 4pm) if it is not otherwise sold - that would be a shame! Please check it out if you are looking for a great deal on an '88 Automatic!
Mike Salmen's 1988 Auto Ferrari Red/Black&Red (piping and two-tone seats). 75K miles.
Formerly a supercharged Texas car. Professionally painted Ferrari Red with classic pinstriping. Has been sitting about a year, but otherwise an excellent car. Would make a great easy project for someone. Current offer on it from a local dismantler is $4700.
Please contact Michael directly:

It really is a great deal. I've known Mike for 7 years, and he is a major car nut - he has several Fiero's, and LS-1 engined truck, that Barracuda, and maybe a few others, but he hasn't had time to attend to the 928. He has a brand new Griffiths steering rack sitting in a box, and as he mentions, a like-new dash pod from Germany.
I wish I could save this unique car myself, but I can't.
SOMEWHERE, I have some pictures of the pinstriping (it is not just simple lines, nicely done with a signature in the rear, striping is on the mirrors, rear wing, front fenders and hood, from what I remember), but I need to dig up the pictures, and doubt I will be able to in time. They are from a get-together around Fall of 2003.

So would this make a good first 928 owner car? What does "formerly a supercharged texas car" mean. Anyother rennlisters know the car or CO?
I could always tone it down a bit with new carpet!

TRADED A 1963 VETTE FOR THIS???????????????????????????
Are you guys aware of what 63 vette's are WORTH???? An unrestored original condition 63 is worth well over 100k. Only the 63 though as it has the split rear window. I don't what this guy was smoking...

The part about the tradings an all should be removed from the ad.
It is irelevent(sp) and just had confusion.....and because of that, make's it fishy.![surrender](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/surrender.gif)
Just saying.

Mike told me it is an automatic. I am going to look for my pictures from 2003 during lunch.
I agree that the extraneous information just adds confusion. I know Mike literally threw the Craigslist article together. I think he is regretting that it will go to a dismantler and is wanting to indicate what high regard these cars can get when experienced in person.
He traded the 928 and another car for the '63 vette. Said he hated driving the vette though - spun it out 3 times. Rear end is much too light: fiberglass with only a pumpkin, suspension, and some tires to weigh it down. Made me remember driving my Chevy S10 pickup...![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Thanks for the compliment, Rod - it's even purrtier in person!

Probably too little, too late, but I found the pictures from the 2002 (not 2003) event. Uploaded to Flickr, here:

Definitely shows the car to be an Automatic (I haven't seen it in a while), and it's potential to look great.
Mike indicates in the ad that it does need some work, especially since it has been sitting for a year, but he is willing to help get it back on the road, and is including some goodies with the car (steering rack, pod, Turbo Twists on the car).

I like the red interior. I've been tempted to put red carpet into my '89 (currently black leather dash/console/panels with red pinstripe on seats, and black carpet), and looking at this makes me think it'll definitely work.
Looks like this car would be a great pickup for someone local looking for a unique auto S4.. save it from the "928 parts guys" dismantlers someone!

Update:
Mike is following up on getting a loan to cover his pending purchase (69 Camaro or ?), instead of raising the cash this way (selling the 928 to the dismantler, among other things). If successful, he plans to clean the car up before re-listing.
I believe if someone offers him cash, however, with the intent of keeping the car on the road, he will seriously consider the sale!
Please keep in mind that my Flickr pictures are from 2002, and I have not seen the car in a while. I recommend going by to look at the car. He told me that he has covered it most of the time, but it still sat for a year. The car is definitely unique!
