I did the same and Jegs and Summit always seem to be higher then everyone. I settled on Roush-Yates figuring it was a well enough known company.

I put the injectors into the rail, then Dremeled the extra groove into them. This seemed to work well, it gave me a stable place to hold them and spin them and it allows you to see the height they should be and quickly check the clip fitment.

Already installed mine, perhaps Zoltan can snap a quick shot. Basically if you compare the old to the new, you will see what needs to be done.

I'm looking for new Fuel Injectors 24#, looks like these are no longer available

However I did find these by Python and they look like our stock units.

Python
VENOM HP-624-8, High Flow, Maximum Performance, 24 LB/HR Flow Rate, Fuel Injector Set of 8
by Python
• Precision balanced set of 8, 24 LB/HR performance injectors
• Designed to support up to 310 Horsepower
• Universal fit for grommet style, multi-port applications
• High impedance (Ohm) coil
• Used by top, professional race teams, not for street use

Around $255. per set of 8 @ Summit.

Three of eight of mine are leaking where the plastic meets the metal base.

Looking for any suggestions or comments?

Thanks DaveK9

edit:
This is the latest in stock 6 hole I could find, looks like the grove will still need to be cut, could not find dimensions.

Might be a little late -- but I'm planning the winter work on my car, and researched the injectors.

From what I see, the attached PDF has some good information on the Ford injectors -- with dimensions. It looks like there are adapters for the Jetronic style plug, and for the fuel connector (EV6 body style).

There's also a nice example of fuel flow rate for a 300HP engine -- they calculate out a needed 18.8lb/hr per cylinder for 300HP.

Hope this saves someone time!

I saw on another post that for the 85/86 these have the upper groove for the clips?
