Default 911 vs 928 vs 944 vs GT vs GTS vs S4

I'm tired of this model bashing crap. Yes, I can see where we have a potential new model like the Panamera, fine ... we need to discuss the thing. But this 911 vs 928 vs 944 and might I add, GTS vs GT vs S4 ... this stuff has been discussed and regurgitated over and over and over and over ad friggin nauseam!!!! Can we not have a daemon that auto-deletes this divisive crap the moment it hits Rennlist?

H-man, you forgot Boxster, Cayman, Cayenne, 914, and 924 in your thread title.

I have no doubt that this is true for the old timers and Porsche vets, but for us that are relatively new and are getting our feet wet it's well...important to us to gather information to make the appropriate decision. Especially when one considers the crappy search function.

...perhaps not looking at these threads would be a more...shall we say...reasonable solution than say eliminating them as they become available.

Just my 2 cents...

............but they all use different oil and the amsoil guy is chasing the mobil guy like a dog chasing its tail.

If Python were still actively doing skits theres more than enough material. Think I'll go for a walk:

Only the ones people keep bringing up over and over, Guys. DOn't you get tired of the same stuff? Can newbies not go search the bazillion threads on the stupid topic? The bottom line is there is no "better" model. And it gets very tired reading the same old bashing on a daily basis. Also, it serves to DIVIDE.

Heinrich,
Problem is, that's all the majority of people consider when looking for a vehicle "what's better". I chose this particular platform for its engineering/technical differences, it's unique styling, and they way I feel inside when I stare at it.

If I wanted (what I feel) is the best Porsche, I would have bought a 97 993TT. But I didn't for the same reason I passed on a Viper GTS. I wanted to spend 30k CUSTOMIZING a car to my standards.
I wanted to stand out on the freeway, but MAINLY wanted to avoid looking like some over privileged *****.

I started with what the "Popular Vote" deemed as an "inferior Porsche" for a reason.......

Most new people who come on here just want to have an interaction with live people. The topics you speak of are not only here, but all over the internet. Someone that is honestly trying to get up to speed can spend a week searching this list, the whole internet, the many books on the subject, and still feel like what you learned is irrelevant if it's all contradictory. If a new potential shark guy has a 9xx and is asking how it compares to our 928, it is absolutely true that telling them to learn how to use the search function will make them feel un-welcome here. If we can't make new members feel welcome, we are missing the point of how much spirit this community has for it's fellow members. Though it is rehashed over and over, it's really important (IMO) to humor them and give them our at the moment opinion. A lot of the time, it ends up in one of us giving the poor sap a ride (taste) and then they are hooked for life like a rich kid that has just discovered cocaine... I for one love talking about the nuances between the (front engine) models, and will always give my opinion if I'm asked. Just my two cents....

Good point Mike! Remember the guy with the 911 convertible? He came here commenting on the 928 at the stop light and ended up trading cars with a 928 forum member! pretty cool stuff...

A very well thought out answer.

Although I too wish the bashing would end. For me if I thought there was only one model that was the best I would own only one model. I find merit in them all and chose what I felt was the best of what suits my needs although I would love to own a few others it is not in my budget right now. In any case I still think that the 928 is not less than a 911 or the 911 is greater than a 9XX but that each serves a different purpose and each is great for what it is. Some people try to make these cars into something they are not and IMO ego gets in the way.

Look at each as they truly are and you will find something amazing in each model.
