Exit 668S on I5 Red 928, a Rennlist friend needs help. Can someone assist? Flat tyre, has spare, inflator is marginal.

 

Aw...shucks. That's far out from anyone I know of. About 4-5 hours from my house, not too far South of "Weed".

I hope he/she can find someone local, or make his/her way to a gas station to inflate the spare.

BTW: Does he/she have the engine running while using the compressor? This thing sucks battery power so quickly, you may end up with an inflated tire, but not be able to start your engine anymore.

I thought the spare was OK to drive at slow speed even uninflated? Like 20-30 mph.

syoo8: Sorry to hear about your flat tire! I hope you can find a replacement, but Redding is not THAT small - you should be able to find a tire place that can help.

Unless, of course, you have the super rare custom racing spec gold plated rubber...


I can't imagine this to be safe or even possible. That wheel is tiny when folded!

 

Sunday will be very tough. America's Tire (same as Discount Tire) and Les Schwab are both closed on Sundays. They carry a wide assortment of tires.

They are in Redding and Anderson. Might need to spend another day there. Beautiful area at least.

Found that the spare inflator works a lot better with the engine running.
That extra volt of juice really helps the compressor motor.

Good luck tire shopping.
Hope they can get to a local warehouse that has your tire in stock or you may be looking at getting a pair of matched tires.

Walmart sells tires.

 

Costco should have a great selection of tires, if you dont have a card you can buy one or get a friendly person to let you use theirs
