"Rumor" at our local PCA breakfast last saturday is that the Panamera will be presented at Monterey Historics this weekend at a special Porsche event.
I guess there will be 4 of them

I think those are great looking cars. Knowing porsche they will make models with more power and more improvements. In a couple years tuners will have their hands on these and they will be monsters.

I picked up the latest Road & Track at the airport yesterday and they had a write-up on the Panamera.
The review did say that it looks a lot better in person than in the pictures. I guess that's a compliment. The car is a monster, very fast. The turbo version does 0-60 in 4.8sec. They also offered many compliments on it's handling and performance and creature-features.
They mentioned that was Porsche is planning on a 928 successor by making a 2-door version of the Panamera. It may be interesting.
For now, I'll take our 928s, any versions. Much better looking than the Panamera.

That's what I thought - by comparison the 928 looks positively dainty and delicate!
I think it's just that cars have got bloated over time to meet safety regs, accommodate equipment demanded by modern buyers, improve refinement, and last so on. People go on about the 928 being wide but it's narrower than my Saab 9-3, which is technically 'compact executive' class so relatively modest in size. Similarly a current BMW 3 series is same size (maybe larger?) than last generation 5 series.
Car parks and garages don't get any bigger though...

I definitely like the 928 much better, but (and I know I'm probably alone on this one) I'd love to have a Panamera. With it's supposed power, I'll bet it's really fun to drive.

When you try to get a piece of every cake, sometime you will be in trouble, I heard recently that Porsche is not as solid as it was. (financial speaking). For me this car it looks like a something between a station wagon and a 911. When a magazine tells you that it looks better on person... You should think about this, It is not pretty, You will never heard this for cars like a Cayman, 944, 911, ect...

When someone says "it looks better in person", it's like describing a girl by saying "she has a great personality" or "she's homely in a cute sort of way. Having said that, I'd probably describe the Panamera as a combination of both of those statements and say "That girl isn't absolutley beautiful, but I sure would not mind being inside her and going for a spirited ride"! ![evilgrin](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/evilgrin.gif)

Rear and mid-engined cars have plenty of space up front not filled by big hunks of metal. Thus the regs can be met while still retaining a nice svelte front.
Front-engined cars? Not so much.

I'm just curious to know why anyone would want this absurdly UGLY, bastardized , disproportionate monstrosity when they could have a comparably equipped/ priced Aston, or Maserati ? When the Hell is the 2011- 928 going to be introduced...
