Yeah, like this:

Make sure you mount the compressor/compressor mount assembly onto the engine block bracket correctly with the correct fine-pitch M10 bolts and the proper torque, or it'll vibrate its way apart and break the engine block bracket as shown. Ask me how I know.....

Oh... that reminds me. Make sure you use some locktite on those mounting bolts. I killed a compressor because the front one loosened up and backed out.

So once again, it seems the 2nd string at Porsche was fabricating what ever type brackets they felt like since these don't remotely match what is in the PET. Now that I see it I feel like Homer Simpson DOH!!! Now I just have to locate that pesky mounting point on the block and hope it's not stripped or broken out.

More fun for next weekend.
Not really. You seem to have the later 10PA20C compressor. This compressor is a body-mount type so it's not the same as the older 6E171.

Those two brackets look exactly like mine, but were mounted backwards. Take them off and turn them around 180 degrees towards the front of the car. The top hole should line up with the threaded hole on the block that is also the attachment point of the air pump belt adjustment bracket.

My bottom bracket also got busted, but there was evidence that it took a pretty substantial hit in the past. I ordered a new one for <$50 and it's good now.

Default Now I know why....

I could not figure out how the adjuster was supposed to mount when I first looked at it. I had the car up on stands this weekend taking care of some minor clean-up and took the opportunity to scope out getting the A/C compressor adjuster mounted correctly. As soon as I crawled under with the photos above fresh in my mind it hit me. What is supposed to be the bolt hole I mistook for a blind hole during my initial inspection. Evidently someone stripped the threads and tried to drill the hole to thread for an insert. The existing hole is so out of round and messed up I doubt it could be threaded well enough to get an insert to hold. I think this is one that will have to wait for the engine to come out. I am planning late this winter (Feb) to pull the engine and do motor mounts, oil pan, rod bearings, rear main seal, and a TB/WP job with new crank/cam seals and a Porkensioner. Once the beast is out I think it may be possible to do some corrective surgery to repair this bolt hole.

Thanks for all the help. I doubt I would have ever figured it out without you all.

Mike you could try this.
Figure out what kind of stud will fit in there via mock up .
Then clean the hole out with some acetone then fit the stud into the hole with some fresh JB weld make sure the JB weld fills the hole completely as does the stud. Let it sit for a few days running the engine will assist in cure once it sets up
After this fit the brackets and dont super tighten them to the new stud.
I have fixed 3 of these broken tabs and each one has been fine, 2 AC studs and an Alternator stud, good luck.

Thanks Mr. Merlin. That is an excellent tip. I have the JB Weld (no self respecting tool box should be without it IMHO) and a large supply of 928 bolts courtesy of NineApart. Maybe that will be tonights project.

This is one of the best things about this community. If you search and/or ask, someone has faced the same problem or something similar and happily shares the knowledge.
