I hope you make it for the drive on Sunday, Mark.
Still only a few commitments to run the dyno so I've canceled the day with the dyno shop. We're still hoping to have a tech session at Howard's shop on Saturday but that may be canceled too if there's no more response. The keg at the house will be taken care of either way, it just may take a little longer.
I'm sending an email to all of the local 928OC members to make them aware of the change of plans. There's a few non-R'listers that plan to go for the drive. Anyone else out there want to join us?

Things are a bit up in the air right now. I noticed a noise underneath the GT today which I'm pretty sure is coming from the torque tube, a delayed result of the flood I'm guessing. I PM'd Constantine about his TT bearings so that maybe we can do a torque tube rebuild with Constantine's bearings for the tech session. I'm going to talk to Howard about it tomorrow and see if he agrees. If not, we can do it in my garage if I can get the bearings. So, if I can get the bearings and get the TT rebuilt Saturday, then I'll be ready for a drive Sunday. If not, I'll have to cancel or reschedule. Sorry to everyone for the last minute crap but the recent flood has really made a mess of things for us. I'll post again tomorrow with an update.

Ok, here's the latest. As I stated earlier, the dyno session has been canceled. Howard decided to cancel the tech session at his shop also due to lack of interest. He will be out of town this weekend. I've ordered replacement torque tube bearings and trans. mounts for the GT which I'm planning to install on Saturday so the tech session will be in my garage. If I can manage to get the torque tube rebuilt and back in Saturday, I'll be ready for a drive on Sunday. Torque tube R&R is something I haven't done before so I'd appreciate anyone who's willing to join in and lend a hand or advice or both. The beer will be cold and the grill will be smokin so come join the fun. The weather for both Saturday and Sunday looks great. There are several options I'm looking at for the drive which we can decide upon depending on how far we want to go and how much time we can spend. I'm sure the normally spectacular nearby waterfalls will be a sight to see given the recent downpours.
I'll be starting around 8:00 Saturday morning. Send me a PM for the address and directions if you need them.

Hi Mike,
Glad it sounds like your cars are ok. I saw on the news that Jackson Creek was flooding again, hope your yard is still intact. Over here it's just soggy everywhere, can't wait for the rain to stop. We had a new front porch/deck put on the house more than two months ago and haven't been able to dry out enough to finish painting it yet!
This weekend looks pretty good for me, need to make sure I can sneak away on Saturday.

Howard's is off but don't let that stop you. There will be plenty to see and do in the garage. The GT will be on the lift which should make the task at hand a little easier. I hope to see you Saturday.

The torque tube is out thanks to the help of a Tim H, Jim M and Rob J. I'll be rebuilding it tomorrow and hope to reinstall it next week. I guess that means no Sunday drive for me. Oh well, I'm glad we were able to get the tt out. For a while there I wasn't sure if we'd figure it out. The top two bolts in the front of the tt were a real PITA. There's just no room in there to turn the bolts. I managed to drive the shaft out of the tube after everyone left but it was really tight. I guess that muddy water really did a number on it.

Sounds like it went well, sorry I missed it. It turned into a family weekend, but I did get the 928 out of the garage for a little while on Sunday. Are the other two ok?

The green one was on the lift so no issues there. I'm guessing I'll have to replace the torque tube bearings in the white car soon as it also had mucky muck above the torque tube. I'll be reinstalling the torque tube in the GT this weekend if anyone wants to join in. There might even be some Stella left in the keg but I can't make any promises.

Well maybe next weekend. I found some broken plastic bits on the shifter that need to be replaced and the "connecting piece" has to come from Germany and won't be here until next week. On the bright side, that'll give me some time to clean everything underneath before putting it back together.
