He has a 79, no computer, no MAF.

LP, call me tomorrow. I'll PM you my number.

Yes it is. And before someone corrects me, the car is a CIS car meaning that it has mechanical fuel injection that does not use a computer. The ignition does have a computer module.

I was talking to Shawn(Fabio421) a few days ago on the phone and tried one of the things he told me, to pour a small amount of gas into where the air box connects(ive removed the air box). After doing that the car ran fine until the fuel i poured in ran out, so ive narrowed it down to a fuel supply problem not an ignition problem with the coil and such. After looking in the WSM 20-6, to check that the fuel pump flow is correct, i removed the banjo bolt where it shows on the fuel distributor and am now trying to find a way to connect a line to measure the fuel coming out, do i need to buy a banjo bolt? The local parts store said they didnt have any. If i have to ill order online but id like to avoid the wait if theres another way to test the fuel pump flow, would testing at the pump work? I wasnt sure if there was a reason for testing on the return line from the fuel distributor.

Thanks

kyle

Kyle can you not just put the end of the banjo into a container while someone cranks you will know immediately if you have flow....if it is flowing check pressure pump may be weak.

You can measure it at the fuel distributor or at the outlet of the pump. Either way it should pump about 1100 ml in 30 seconds.

Ok thanks Dennis I think I'm going to check at the outlet of the pump I wasn't sure about the amount yet to measure but now I know!

I finally got around to checking the fuel pump. I checked at the outlet of the fuel filter and it pumped about 500mL in 10 sec which is about equivalent to 1500mL in 30 sec. Dennis had said earlier that it should be about 1100mL in 30 sec so it seems the pump is fine.

Sorry there has been such a long time since I posted anything...but my car is finally running! I went through the warm up regulator, cold start valve, and auxiliary air valve, but all of those were not the problem. Finally I took my car to a , mechanic, Checkered Flag in Sebring, and he was able to diagnose the problem. I have just had no time whatsoever to look into my car since school started with swim team and AP classes. It turned out that my Fuel Distributor needed to be rebuilt so it got sent off and rebuilt. Got it back and my car is running great.

Kyle,

Glad you got it going. How much was the rebuild?

Thats great news Kyle. You should have a looong run of no problems with it now. The CIS systems are very robust and work well.
The FL 928'ers will be getting together at the Sarasota Porsches in the park in Dec. I'd like you to attend if possible.

Take care

I'd like to attend in December. I believe $700 for the distributor rebuild minus mechanic cost.
