WOT wont necessarily foul your plugs, but as I said earlier when we track down the problem you probably WILL need to change them as running rich for so long will absolutely foul out your plugs.

Also wanted to add that the car is slow to accelerate at the higher speeds. Going to do the Sean test tonight.

Ok Sean did the test. At idle I have 12psi vacuum. At high rpm I have 17psi vacuum. Fuel pressure at idle 32 psi. With vacuum disconnected from fuel regulators I have 39 psi fuel pressure. Pulled spark plugs also. Passenger side plugs looked good. Driver side had fouled at some point. They were black. First 2 cylinders were the worst. Not terrible but definitely black. Cleaned up the plugs with a wire brush and carb cleaner. Car is running better but still rich. Idle was a bit high so I adjusted the idle air screw at the front of the plenum and I was able to get most of the richness out but the idle was too low so I had to up it a bit which brought back some of the rich exhaust. I think tomorrow I'm going to change the o2 sensor even though it's only a year and a half old. Maybe it took a crap while I was messing with the exhaust before OCIC. I also rechecked the driver side FPR and it still held good vacuum and no sign of fuel at the vacuum port. How can I tell if it's bad? I changed the passenger side FPR a month ago for leaking fuel at the diaphragm. What do you guys think?

Did you check to make sure your cold start injector isn't stuck open?

I think that 12" HG vacuum at idle is WAY to low.

You need to get a timing light and confirm that you advance is correct first and formost!

Colin I think your right. Now that you mention it. Shouldn't my vacuum decrease at rpm and be higher at idle? I checked the vacuum at the dampener vacuum connection with a "T". Should I tap in somewhere else? Maybe you guys can get a quick vacuum reading for me for comparison?

That spot should give you proper vacuum reading, however the best place to test IMO is to pull the small vacuum line off the brake booster (disconnecting the HVAC etc.) and put the guage there.

Your engine at idle should pull around 18" HG. Your high idle is normal though as the engine isnt under load.

But again the first thing to check is the amount of advance you have at idle. Set this first, if it is proper then check cam timing. It is possible that you have skipped a tooth.

Colin is spot on. Your vacuum is off and low and should go down with reving, but ya recheck that.
Also you can hook up your meter on the o2 sensor and see what its showing. It will read .1 to 1volt you can read it at start up and warmed up and see what the o2 sensor thinks about your A/F ratios

this is Sean posting on Luans computer

Tore off my cam covers today to check timing. looks like some butt monkey timed my cams with paint marking not the timing marks. Also looks like my cam gears maybe on back wards. It's hard to tell if they are in time due to the paint smear that marks them. What a butt munch. Anyways going to check timing again tomorrow and change the o2 sensor. By looking at the timing tonight to get to 23 degrees of advance(I think that's what it was in the chart) my distributor is almost at max adjustment. Can you guys look at your and see if it is at the same spot. It's like I can't advance it much past stock timing. Not that I want to just seems strange. Also seems like there is rubber dust inside my cam covers Sean R seems to think that maybe my oil pump gear is worn. A timing belt job may be in my future even though the TB/WP was changed before I bought the car. The rubber junk could have been left in there from the other belt I just don't know. My belt looks new and in good condition.

i keep looking at the pics, but I can't tell if they are off. Is the timing off? In a way that is good because you will be fixing it, in antoher way that sucks.
Don't bother with WP, just do the TB be like an hour or something. 16v is cake compared to 32v!
