My only problem with this is what do you do with the charge line full of liquid when you have the correct amount of refrigerant by weight in the system and shut off the valve at the tank?

I would close the valve at the tank, have the low pressure valve open and the high pressure valve closed, then crank the engine, run the A/C long enough to drop the pressure on the low side, close the low side valve and the center valve, shut everything down and disconnect. There should be very little chance of enough liquid making in into the compressor to slug it.

The liquid in the charge line is included in your weighed charge...
