X Pipe Install - Check Engine Light
MY 89 auto. Having an X pipe installed - mechanic indicated that the "check engine" light would probably stay on since we are taking the cats off and all the plumbing with it. Is this the case - is there something that can be done so this does not happen or is the mechanic misinformed. Appreciate any help on this issue. Thanks.

X pipe installed along with all air pump, cats and assorted plumbing removed. Car sounds a bit deeper but not really louder. Can't really tell if it runs stronger at this point but will figure it out in a few weeks. Car ran great before.
