yes all ROW cars have this config of driving lamps/fogs. To me it makes much more sense - need the fogs nearest to the corners for both corner marking and best beam spread.

Also on ROW cars the fogs stay on with high beams.

There is also a marker light embedded into the fog light reflector (since ROW cars don't have a marker combined with the front turn signals).

This shows the "problem" with the later 928's. They look a bit outdated because that is exactly what they were at the time. That is to expect from a car that looked the same for 17 years.

On the other hand, as the OB's get older, people start to notice just how amazing the 928 looks compared to most or all cars at the time. 30 years is considered a somewhat magic age where a car is no longer just old but classic, and I feel the 928 will gain the respect it once had in the classic car circles when compared to contemporary cars an not modern.

If you would want to impress the audience with the most modern GT car at a classic car show today, and it had to be 30 years old or more, what would you choose?

The last thing I want my 928 to look like is a 2009 Porsche. Hyundai is building better looking vehicles.

I saw one of the Genesis Coupes the other day, and i think it had some extra spiffy Hyundai body kit on it but it looked pretty sharp for what it is. I like it better then the 350Z. The 370Z i still think i prefer, but that Korean version is 10K or 25% cheaper. I think they do look pretty good in the flesh, i did a triple take when i saw it i didnt think they were out yet. (About a month ago when i saw it)

The big reason the Aston's depreciate so quickly is that once the factory warranty expires, you're on your own. I looked into buying an 07 Vantage and the yearly (YEARLY) warranty cost was $6,000.00!!! That's not a 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty. That's a 1 year 12,000 mile warranty! I quickly passed....for now.

Nice car, but it does not seem right, especially those blackened rear lights look kind of like what the kids do to their old Audis.

I kind of like the 928 for what it is - a classic car - and that is why I keep it.

In the future I believe many owners of 928's will want to keep their cars more original.
For me, I want it to look like what it is - an aging car icon.

Still, I must admit I am guilty of modifying my shark, kind of adjusting it more to my taste.
I enjoy driving a car up in the mountains, so I want to take advantage of recent technological progress such as significantly improved tyres.
This means new, updated wheels, and suspension modifications.
I also enjoy the sound of the 928 engine, which means exhaust upgrades (or, rather, downgrades..).
But I like that it still looks like a late 80's high-performance GT, with the original black rear spoiler and yellow indicator lights.

I will never sell off the original wheels, I am also keeping other parts I have replaced.
That way, I can always put it back to original if I want to.

The issue with people painting their tail lights (all red or black signals in this case), reminds me of a question I had a while back when I was looking through PET.

IIRC, there is a 'Japan' designation for the post '87 lights, but is the same part number as US & ROW...

Perhaps Erkka or Nicole has some insight into the differences?

For the S4+ rear lights - I think the housing is the same for all - however the wiring loom and the bulb harness is very different for ROW cars. ROW cars have dual filament rear foglights on the outer lower sections combined with markers. They have markers only in the mid lower and brake lights only in the lower inner position. So both the inboard and outboard sections are configured differently than USA cars.

Not a fan of darkened taillights.
Was following an 82? with early darkened lights.
Hard to see when the brakes were being applied. No 3rd brake light.
Last thing I want to do on a fun drive is not see brakes being applied in front of me.

Yeah and with the Vantage you have to deal with what i think is truly a TERRIBLE transmission!

You can pick up a Vantage for the price of a Vantage, but i dont think its a better car at all

Would've been 1000 times better if upper part of rear lights was clear or lightly smoked.

If only there was a well-known, respected vendor here that already makes clear and smoked lenses..... hmmm.

Maybe they could offer them in all-red; all-smoke; all-clear; red/clear; red/smoke..... then we could carefully trim our original off and epoxy the new ones on.... hmmmm.

Does anybody know such a vendor that already has such a large fan base to make this a financially viable enterprise.... ?
