Check Engine Light
#16
Ok, Here is the latest. Engine light came back on with same error 1115. Hooked up the "Hammer" to it and the Hammer reported no codes. Going to hook up the meter to it over the weekend and the TPS.

Yes. Once the Hammer has collcted data from all the installed ECUs, you have a menu
1) Fault memory
2) Drive links
3) Input signals
and if you press >1) System adaptation.
On the first screen if you press 3) then you get a choice of
1) idle contact
2)WOTS
3) ACS switch
and more when you press the > key.
Idle contact is what you need, then press the throttle pedal and make sure it always works on/off as shown on the Hammer, also recheck when engine is hot.

Here are my readings using meter:
Idle test - Pins 18 and 8 on EZK
No Throttle - 3.234 OHMS
Throttle - 2.905
WOT Test - Pins 18 and 26
Rest/Idle (No Throttle) - 3.234
Accelorator all the way down - 000.5
I disconnected the harness cable from the TPS and the OHM reading stayed at 3.234.
So, what does all this mean?

You need to disconnect both LH and EZK 35 way connectors as each ECU has closed throttle switch and WOT switch inputs.
However, even with the LH still connected your meter is more likely to measure 3.24Kohms (3240 Ohms) so you need to check that out.
From your measurement it appears to confirm that your idle switch is open circuit.
Why didn't you use the Hammer ?

Hi John,
I did not find the options you describe above. Does version of OS matter? The hammer on loan I have is running version 2.80. Do you know where the above options might be on my version?
Thanks for the input for the above. I will rerun my testing with meeter and await your instructions for my particular version of Hammer.
Thanks again,
Alan

John,
Also, when you say the Idle Switch you mean the ISV (928.606.161.01 ) and not the TPS (928.606.157.00). The only not new part is the Idle Switch. I have a new one coming in today and will replace during the week. Several questions:
1. Is there a way to replace without taking out Intake Manifold - some people have stated on Rennlist that have done this, but I am amazed how?
2. Anything to consider when replacing the new one. I mean anything to adjust?
Thanks,
Alan

I think the software you are using in the Hammer is not the Porsche specific software ?
Porsche software has "Porsche" at the top of the screen after you start the Hammer. The last version is 8.1 dated 01.10.95 (also shown on that screen)
idle switch = part of the TPS. The fault code you have is nothing to do with the ISV.

John - Here are the findings:
No Throttle - 0.L OHMS
Throttle - 0.L
WOT Test - Pins 18 and 26
Rest/Idle (No Throttle) - 0.L OHMS
Accelorator at about 3/4 down and then all the way down - 000.5 OHMS
Thoughts?

Throttle - 0.L

John - I loaded the Porsche software and it comes up as Porsche Software. But anyway, how can the newer version be obtained?
I will also check exactly what is says when the hammer turns on.
Thanks.

I assume that 0.L is infinitty ohms ,i.e open circuit ?
If so your reading confirm your WOT switch is OK but your TPS closed switch is open circuit.
Is it clicking as thorttle plate opens and closes ?

Porsche software will only test Porsches.
I sell the Porsceh software modules, as per my website

Suggest you make sure the throttle cable isn't preventing the throttle linkage fully returning.......slacken it off if necessary. Make sure cable is running freely etc.
