I guess I didn't realize the original question was your first coat of wax after a spray. I stated you should use ICE in between real waxes as a quick touch up sealer, it should not be the first wax you apply.
IMO I would use the Meguires pure caranuba wax, not a cleaner wax, not anything synthetic. Its actually a little hard to find, but it is a wax you can 'put 2 coats on' because it wont 'clean' off the earlier coat.
Can't wait to see pics with the fresh paint and fresh coat of wax

There is so much conflicting info on this subject.

I have a bin of waxes including Pinnacle, Zymol S-100 Etc. Most of these want to clean and polish, I don't need a cleaner just something to coat it.
This subject is like the Turbo Vs S/C tread or Oil tread everybody's correct in some way.
From all the reading on Ice it seems to be on the top per user feedback as far as ease, shine and not covering the plastic with powder. The down side seems to be longevity. My feeling after using all the waxes over the years they are about the same depending on your paint, some may little more deep but not a lot. Ice seems to be a good compromise, and if it looks OK and wares off I can start over. Remember the paint is new, looks good and just needs a coating.
On a note it says long straight strokes and use very little, kind of like a top coat or sealant for the paint.

Tampa which Pinnacle do you have? My experience has been that it does allow for layering up to three coats and when you get to the third layer it prevents anything from sticking to the surface (bugs/tar/road grime).

As far as waxes go, they don't drastically change the appearance of the paint as you have already noted. They can either leave a really reflective finish like Zaino or a deep finish like Pinnacle. How long they last depends on the product, weather and useage of the car.

Use whatever you like but use it regularly. If you're happy with ease of application/removal and results then their is no need to change.

Definitely post some pics of the new paint after waxing!

I'll agree with the conflicting opinions, but still would be a little cautious of silicone on "newer" paint. Do a little research on fish-eye paint problems, before and after spraying. The opinions are not varied on this subject as much as you'd think. Synthetic vs. natural waxes when paint is "old"...I agree, I've used both. Just not on fresh paint.

*As a tip: I have used that Ice on my beater a few years back because I really didn't want to spend the time doing it good, I just wanted it shiny. Don't use that applicator and bottle that's provided, pour wax into an empty spray bottle and "spritz" it sparingly on each car panel. Then wipe it in and off with micro-fiber towel. You can treat an entire car in about 15 minutes. Plus, you won't scratch the paint as much because you using one less thing to smear across the paint.

I've been using Collinite liquid insulator wax (No. 845) on all my cars for a couple of years now: http://www.colliniteautomotive.com/p....htm#liquid845
It is the easiest wax I've applied, and it stays on the longest - repeated washes (even commercial car washes) don't quickly strip it off. No streaking either. Damn near like a carnuba wax finish. YMMV

It was recommended to me by a detailer. It does have some percentage of carnuba in it.

+1 on this, I used NXT paste and it is awesome for over the counter stuff. I wouldn't do it until the paint is at least 3 months old though.

Black paint only amplifies this reaction and reflects the negative results even better in the aftermath.

Actually you shouldn't use anything other than natural carnauba wax, the silicone can't bond with the paint, that's why it doesn't last that long. It's your paint...
+1 I have to go with this, I just had my car painted a few months ago and the painter highly stressed "no silicones " only natural carnauba for at least six months. Giving the new paint more than enough time to cure.

I feel like Popeye using the swirl remover by hand.
I used a 3-step Pinnacle swirl remover with a buffer and was not pleased with the out come. Then I used Maguires swirl remover 928TT gave me and did it by hand. The paint now looks very even and shiny. 928TT informed me that it's ready for wax, he should know he painted it and sells the product. He said all the volatiles are out, his products I am sure have there own drying time lines. For now I need to let my arm rest.
