FS: Odds and Ends to rbring to OCIC
Looked through my pile of odd 928 stuff and can bring any of these with me to OCIC. PM me if you're interested and I'll put your name on them (only plan to bring the ones someone said they wanted).
FREE Items:
1. GONE! (Clint) Black Euro 79 right armrest. Just the armrest, I took off the folding brackets/rods underneath to repair mine
2. Crappy rearview mirror. Has corrosion or something along the edge right where the plastic cover meets the glass, otherwise fine with a good ball joint, working day/night lever, etc.
3. Inner door handle and cable assembly ,,, fine, I got a new one and just have this waiting for a new owner
4. Driver's footrest metal panel (only) for S4. Just the metal frame, no carpet, heel pad, fasteners, etc.
CHEAP Items - all $5!!:
1. Used ignition coil from my '94 GTS. Found an inexpensive new one, could throw this away but maybe someone wants it?
2. GONE! (Stan) One set of stickers for the console switch symbols (windows, rear wiper, etc.). These work great, I got two sets and this is the second set I didn't use.
3. GONE! (Tim) Jaeger passenger-side door hinge repair. This is a thin shim that rides on top of the hinge strap to improve the door stop action; i.e. keep the door open at the stop positions and not fall closed on your leg. Bought R and L set but my pass door doesn't need it
4. Trip computer lever switch. Clean and works perfectly. I cut off the OE connector to install it in another car, so a little quick soldering will make it ready again for 928 duty.
5. Relatively clean copy of John Kelly's excellent TB and WP manual. Sean and Roger saved me the experience of doing this job, so while I learned a lot from having the manual I won't need it for a while (if ever). Lots of terrific pictures and outstandingly-thorough detail on the entire process
WILDLY-EXPENSIVE Items:
1. $ 25 - New-style Jaeger "speed mount". This is a block of dense foam that goes between the engine and crossmember to cut down vibration and noise while you save your pennies to have Sean do new MM and pan gasket. Used for about three months and not quite as good as Sean, but surprisingly effective nonetheless. You'll enjoy your car more immediately after putting it in place
2. GONE! (Brad L.) - Jaeger passenger-side armrest/door panel repair kit. Again, bought a kit for both sides and only really needed to do the driver's side. These perfectly-formed aluminum plates reinforce the inside of the armrest/door panel that often breaks around the bolt holes. Makes it all nice and solid again. If yours is loose and flopping around you'll love this item
3. $ 15 - Porsche/Brembo caliper guide repair kit for one Big Red/Big Black caliper (note: not for S4, rear or any other 928 caliper). The caliper guides are the stainless-steel H-shaped parts at either end of the caliper that your pads fit between. These things warp and eventually bind up the pads. I switched to different from calipers and didn't end up using these.
