If the station owner can't run the VIN to verify address info... then I guess the state DMV is your last resort. I was trying to think of any 'free' way to locate the owner.

Good luck and it's a noble thing to do!

It's a long shot but, go to the nearest Prosche dealer and ask one of the service advisors if they can check their recent customer database. Everything is traced via the VIN. They may, or may not, oblige, but if the car has been to any dealership for service in the past few years there will be a record of it.

Update: the service station alerted the owner and he contacted me today. I'm mailing the window sticker out now. He'll be sending recent pics shortly. It's just been repainted from it's original color to silver - on the path to a restoration. He bought it from a private party in Watsonville approx 2 years ago. He didn't have much to share......other than it's a blast to drive. I suggested that he get involved in this community. His name is Earl, and he's from Oakland, Ca. Hopefully he'll get involved here.

Thanks again to everyone for your your great suggestions and information! I'm pleased that we could get this window sticker reunited with the car.

Mitch

Mitch - Great effort here. Hope the current owner appreciates the effort extended. Also hope Earl drops into the Shark Tank.

Going out of your own way just for the benefit of someone you'll possibly never meet...? My kind of guy! Right on!

Mitch, you're a class act to go out of your way to do this!

I'm glad I was able to provide some paths to take to make this possible, and am glad you followed through with your project... so, when can we get you into a 928?

That was really nice of you to do that.....I always wondered where some of my old cars ended up. I didn't save the VIN#'s as the files all went with the cars -- so no way to track them now. Oh well.

The guy who bought my black/black '87 S4 5 speed was a instructor for Falcon jets. He gave me a tour of their training facility at a small airport here in NJ. Got to go in one of those simulators that are up in the air on hydraulics. That was awsome. Felt real.

way cool find and hookup. I wish someone would do that for me. I might be able to ask when my motor blew up for the first time, too.

That would be great for both of you, for you, you will get a history of your father car and may be pictures, for the present owner, he will get a nice record of the car. When I got my car the past owner have this sticker. It is great item to have. Good luck on your search, please let us know. Ooops, I see that you find the owner already, please post pictures when you got them.

Default I used to own that 928

I am trying to bring this tread up again, I am new to this group...

After trying for a long time to remember the VIN number for a 928 I used to own, I finally remembered it.. and Googling brought me here.

I owned 82 928 VIN ...821922 in San Jose from 1988 to 1994. Remember it well and have fond and not so fond memories.

Would love to hear how my old car is doing after all these years (the last post here was 10 years ago, but it was being restored..hope hope its still around!).

Gary
