I don't think Mark was saying you didn't have the original locks, just not the original key.

+1 for 928 Int'l, I sent a door lock to them to have it re-configured to match my other locks. I had them produce a new key as well. The job was quick and now I have one key.

Stuart at keys4classics has apparently been very busy.

I sent an email with pics in time for opening time on Monday, and he responded late Thursday, apologising profusely for the delay.

Give him a while, I am sure he will get to you as soon as he can.

Your post mentioned the locks, that is why I commented.

26 years is a long time, the original owner could be mistaken, or perhaps the dealer used a non-original replacement.

What an awesome service. I looked on 928 Intl. site for the service and did not see it. Is this service available to the general buying public? I have three locks to recombinate (sp?). Michael

I have no reason to believe otherwise. Tom handled the task for me, quickly and inexpensively. I insured my mailing for some ridiculous amount, as it was my only key. As I recall turnaround was less than a week.

Received a parcel from Keys4classics yesterday - contents: one Silca blank, one Huf blank, both cut to match the digital photo that I sent earlier. Forgive me if I don't broadcast the decoded key number.

Tested this morning (the car is not stored at home), and both keys worked PERFECTLY - even better than the original key that was supplied with the car.

Now I just need to pick up a couple of new lighted key heads and that will be one more task crossed off the "Make it Perfect" list.

Well my key was so trashed that no one was able to make a copy via picture. Mark was going to work with me, if I sent my key and lock but decided to try one more time around town. After 14 phone calls and 10 different run arounds, I found a lock smith that had the correct machine to cut my blank keys I got from keys4classic. The good part about being local, is he was able to check the keys with all my locks and ignition to ensure they worked correctly. In fact sometimes it would work on passenger side but not drivers. So after about an hour and half of work and cutting and filing, he was able to make 3 spare keys for me for the sum of around 145$. I guess its worth having a piece of mind, knowing I do have spares now.

Keys for AO84 and EURO85 arrived today... I have not tried the EURO85 key yet (as that car is living at another location) but I can announce that the key for AO84 is AWESOME! Glad to have an extra key for that car! I HATE having just ONE 928 key...

If you guys only have ONE KEY and you are on the fence, get off it and send a high res pic and info to keys4classics.com and get them to cut you a new key for your 928. It was not cheap (I got the red PORSCHE crest head) and the pair were $111.XX shipped to my door in less than 10 days!

Getting a new key made for your 928 isn't that difficult if you have a good locksmith in your area. I had a local locksmith make my duplicate 928 key. He had the blanks on hand. It took him 5 min. While he was testing the key he serviced the ignition switch/lock. The key, the ignition switch/lock and all the other locks all work great now. All for less than $30. Guardian Security Group, Inc in Tacoma Wa did the work and I think they might be a national chain. (No affiliation)
Good luck.
