Here's the quote from the post that re-started this thing: (re-re-restarted?)

You might notice the "more pairs" clause. It depends on the pairs. "Situational" if you understand that better.

When I ran the simulation, I found it red-lined at 144. (Actually hits the shift point again. I could fix that for 5th gear.) Could have bumped that up but 6300 provides maximum acceleration with that torque curve. And, of course, it's the torque that's really important as a = F/m. Remember?

Hi Colin

I will NOT post on the 928 Racing list again...not ever...

I got so fed up with the irritation of Simons childish comments, I just thought I have better things to do with my life...and 928

I still read it for some of the technical stuff (not his) lol

All the best Brett

clear as mud. actually, I do see what you are saying, and its not true past 1st gear unless you "cherry pick " a "pair" .
anyway, it wasnt very obvious, because I think im not alone when you seem to be favoring the 3.09 for all applications. Forget about 0-5 or 0-25mph or first gear for example. Then, it seems you do agree that it " depends" or is "situational" as you say.

Now to prove that you really get it, why would the 6300shift point provide more "F" than at redline? based on the torque/hp curve provided?
Yes, a=F/m we know, but what "F" are you getting at? engine or found at the rear wheels!
