Default 928 at Infineon Raceway!

I took my daughter out to the drag races at Infineon Raceway this afternoon to "run with the cops". Most Wednesdays they run drag races there and they have local police officers show up with their cruisers to race against high school aged kids who are interested. I finally gave my daughter the keys to the '89 and took her to the raceway.
I've never seen another 928 there before but there was a young man with a white '87 S4 who ran a couple of rounds before he had to drop out with a mechanical problem.
My daughter started out with two 15.6 sec 1/4 mile runs at around 90 mph. Her next run was 15.0 and the final run she made was 14.86 seconds! Not bad for an 18 year old first time racer with a roll bar and my 200 lbs in the car as extra ballast!
The 928 definitely isn't a drag racer, but it was fun to see it on the track and it actually generated a fair amount of interest from bystanders (most were surprised it wasn't faster ).
Looks like she'll be out there more often now with the 928 while I'm running the 'vette!

Here's a link to a video of her first ever pass.

http://s155.photobucket.com/albums/s...7081650271.flv

The car is a stock '89 S4 with Devek roll bar and two people in it, so the weight was up there. Not much wheel spin even running on street tires, but the times could be better with practice. I could drop 300 lbs or so by only having her in the car, removing the roll bar, spare tire, etc.

Her reaction time got better with each run, but it was still over 1/2 second on her best run.

We'll be working on it. She really had a good time.

The attachment has her first pass and best pass of the day. Her car # was 211.

Wow! Great father daughter experience. Not bad times for an automatic and her times were improving. Might get her motivated in regards to performance modifications and getting her hands dirty with the car. Just wonderful.

Did notice the track temp was 119F! go back when it is in the 50 degree range and you'll drop another 1/4 of a second.

In all of the years I have lived 20 minutes from Infineon (Sears Point) I have always wanted to do "Wednesday night drags" but for one reason or another just never have done it.
Great outing you guys had, it is also broadcast on one of the local stations here.

You should check it out. It's only $25 and unless you're running faster than 14.0 (not in any stock 928 that I've seen) you don't even need a helmet.

Yeah it is so cheap and easy that there is no reason not to do it.

I was invited to those yesterday by my fiancee's sister's boyfriend. Never went though. In fact I was at home fiddling with my throttle and kickdown cables as my car wasn't shifting right.

I've got a few spares lying around ...

If my car can't handle a few full throttle blasts down the track, it deserves to be up on jack stands.

I prefer not to burn up the ATF in my tranny.
