Hi Ken,

A compliment to you....

I used your liftbars to do some work on my 928 last weekend. A buddy (longtime Porsche nut) came and offered some help. He was impressed with your creativity in developing the idea of the liftbar. I've certainly enjoyed using them!

Any nighttime pics of the projectors against a wall?
So projector headlights don't have a pattern cutoff like the H4's, right?
It's not easy to fit useful lights in the stock headlight holes. The positioning is a tradeoff for the maximum output to the sides, without being trimmed by the opening. Only one light can really fit if it is back inside the fender. (IIRC, the lights are at the lowest legal height, ~22".) With a bubble cover, you could move the lights forward, and probably fit a high, and low beam.

The low beam projectors have a shield for the cutoff, so only the top half of the lens has useful light output. This clears the front of the fender. The cutoff looks like a H4, and is very sharp, even with the HID bulbs. (I think projectors handle HID conversions the best.)

For highs I'm putting some euro high beams in place of the US fog lights in the bumper.

I'm curious how the inside would look painted in body color as opposed to showing black... think Ferrari 575M.

Yeah a body-matched inner panel would go miles to make that set-up look clean. I'd guess you'd just need a little bit of fiberglass moulded to fit around the bulb assembly and follow the same general shape of the fender. Then you could just use a fender-flush lexan shield to make it look built-in.

A couple of people have suggested using a printed vinyl 'stickers' (like they use for adverts on bus windows, for example) with a photo of a 8" H4, which the projector would shine through. The lower section could be made more opaque, to cut down on glare off the front of the fender.

With a sticker on the outside, it might not need a lower cover.

I think the sticker would work famously as a track solution, but I'm personally not convinced it would end up looking right for someone who wanted to do the mod to a daily driver. I think the fiberglas undercover would provide a cleaner option, but certainly, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and if that's what the people want, then that's what you should give them.

I seriously have an image in my head of a finished product and this thing would look freaking awesome as a production on the 928 !

Me too. I have an image similiar to the concept used in this Spyder. Remove/cut out the front of metal directly in front of the beam of the headlight and fill in with a one-piece unit similar to the Ferrari or this Syderwerks version. Obviously this is for the non-purists among us.
