Very nice Paul, yours is a sentimental favorite to me.

Has Jay been involved in the work? I hope he is doing well.

I went to the Skyyear sharkfin antenna when my power antenna died. Note the filled left quarter where the stock antenna was located. At the time I purchased the antenna it was available only as an AM/FM antenna. I think it is now available with Satalite Radio now. The cost was not to high. I did not bother trying to relocate the stock antenna lead I simply mad and new lead and fished it back to the new antenna. As to performance it is hard to say with all the mountians here in VT obstructing things it is hard to tell. But it works for me.

RKD,

The over width of the rim is important but several other factors come into play. The car weighs slightly less than 3300 lbs and with me and a full load of fuel there is close to a 900 lbs load per tire which flattens the contact pach. At 34 lbs of air in the rears there is no way that the contact patch is crowned. For any tire size at constant air pressure and constant weights the contact patch would be the same in area. What changes is the shape of the contact patch. As width goes up the contact patch gers wider and shorter and when width goes down it gets longer and narrower. The advantage of a wide short patch is the it is more stable a contact, squirming less. A wider front front tire does not have an adverse impact on grip. I doubt that the racers would go to all of the effort to put 305's and larger on the front of thier cars if they were to lessen grip. After I went wide on the front I noticed a much sharper turn in. and braking performance was much enhanced. As weight shift under braking increases the load on the front tires. The looks were not the reason for my tire sizes performance was. Since the Euro S cars are traction limited on the narrow rubber of a 225/50 16 this tire combo for the rear picks up traction without the negative impact of a taller tire on the overall gear ratio. Taller tires have an negative impact on acceleration.

Stan,

Yes, Jay has been very involved in doing the work on my car. I had my shiulder replaced in Feb of this year so I have been of very little use for most of the year. Without Jay assistance I would have completed very little. Jay is good, he and I have a business venture together that is slowly taking off. So the two of us are working hard to get it to the finish line.

My car has seen several upgrades since you last saw it. Brembos at all four corners, new front and rear bars, Front springs, exhaust, short shifter, sharkfin antenna, wheels and tires, rebuilt trans, electric fan carbon fibre shock tower brace, GTS Mirrors, and the all the requited maintainace Jay and I do all the work.
