I can't see welding, somebody local must have some "spares", the upgrade to 85/86 is also worth it, and at the very worst somebody not local could ship.

I may have two sets, 79 and 84 Euro, buried in my garage, so I will compare them if I get a chance, but I don't recall hearing of any differences.

I have a flywheel with a casting number that looks very similar.

Thanks guys for all the info. Good thing Danglerb's back since he knows for sure it's a casting number. Is it worth risking more broke exhaust studs to change to the 85/86 manifolds with the motor in the car.

IMO it's the best bang for the buck upgrade on a 16V car. Is the rest of the exhaust stock?

The only additional part you need is a spacer (about 1.5") on the passenger side between the stock exhaust and the manifold. Todd made me a spacer out of solid billet stainless, I could see if he has time to pop out another one quickly. If I had to guess, I would say about $100.
Some people cut off the stock exhaust below the flange and weld in a spacer.

I had to drill out 3-4 of the bolt holes on the 85/86 manifolds to fit on without a fight.

Ok guys here's the resolution to this situation. Sean found me a pair currently installed on a 84 US motor at Rogers 928 supply depot. Once again Roger and Sean save my day. Thanks for all the info and help on this. I'd be sunk without Rennlist and the knowledgeable people on it

One note: It also has the same casting #. Why in the world did Porsche make their casting numbers so close to their part #'s?

Hell 40 minutes is nothing, he just drove 2.5 hours to my place to pick the new headers up, hung out for an hour and drove back home.

Bonus is I got my desktop back from him that he rebuilt for me. Love it when things come together. Thanks Jason

Before you drive the car make sure to fit the block tabs to each manifold, if you dont have any then make some, the tabs are bolted through the lower bell housing bolts to one of the manifold /header bolts, this should keep the new manifolds from cracking and the studs from snapping off

Merlin I rigged it up temporarily because I don't have these blocks. I've begged for pics of these supports but no one has posted anything. Also their not in the pet for the OB's. Are they just on the S4's?

Ok guys here's the conclusion. Got the new manifold installed and exhaust back together tonight. Car sounds excellent what a difference. I no longer think it's too loud it's now perfect.
