Question Foot rest adjustment ?

Hi

Since I fitted my Momo Race seat my left foot rest is slightly too close to me so on long trips my ankle aches lol....

The other pedals are perfect so moving the seat will not help....

I seem to remember someone on here saying the foot rest was adjustable in some way ??

Tried search but nothing....

Not got my head under the pedals yet but the rest just looks a bit like a big box (carpeted) with a flat plate on it ....

Could anyone tell me IF it is adjustable and if so how please ?

All the best Brett

Try searching for 'dead pedal'.

The whole thing is attached to the left side by just a few screws. You can adjust it there. I forget if there's a track or a few screw holes, but there is some adjustment.

The designs vary slightly by MY, but on a '78 the dead pedal has a lower bracket(at left in pic below) that drops over a pin in one of three positions, then there is a bracket on the side with holes in it (right of pic) that lets you set the angle. There is also a hole on the inboard side(top of pic) that screws to one of the locations in the bracket on the firewall. For this last hole you may have to move a speed nut around if you want to change the position of the dead pedal - YMMV. IIRC at some later date it was changed to where the dead pedal has the pin and the floor bracket has the holes.

Oh, reverse everything for RHD.

I also think they are adjustable.....the throttle pedal is too...typically a 3 position option....

My 88 is similar to Dave's. Note the three holes in the bracket. This is the only adjustment.

Good point. I think you can only adjust the bottom attachment point though. I didn't see an obvious way to keep the angle of the pedal "normal" after moving the bottom.

on the later ones the arm which the bolt goes through to hold it to the body has 3 positions as well.

Keep in mind that the two screws that are near each other on the side of the "box" are the same, machine type screws I think they are called, and the third is a bolt.

So one is not the same as the other two.

Obvious I know, but thought I would mention it as when you're doing the contortion routine under there, its best to get in and out as quick as possible, at least it was in my case. Could barely fit my 6'6" self in there. Was just in there yesterday.

And yes, it looks like the gas pedal only has the adjustment at the bottom, although I did not look at the back to confirm you can't adjust the angle.

Ed,

I found out a very interesting piece of information the other day.

When a fellow I know who is the original owner of an 84 euro 5 speed and I were talking he told me that the factory recommended to go WITHOUT the sunroof for anywone over 6'1"

No kidding. I'm sitting formula 1 style in the sunroof 928's. I put a deeply dished sparco steering wheel in it (350 mm diameter - love it) to bring the steering wheel closer, and also put in a fixed back Sparco seat to see if I could get more head room.

The seat worked great but as I suspected its a hassle to get in and out of.

I just bought another Sparco R100 reclining seat and installed it today. Not as low as the fixed back, but not as high as the stock seat. I may remove some of the padding in the seat bottom.

My ultimate 928 is a white 86.5 (or GT), sunroof delete, 5 sp, rub strip delete.

Oh, reverse everything for RHD.

Hi

Well I adjusted mine on Sunday

It was a real pain to say the least and by the way its ABSOLUTELY nothing like your picture lol....

Maybe its because its RHD....

The RHD one has ONE 10 mm non adjustable bolt at bottom and Two pins in middle and top that have 3 holes each for adjustment....

Still I got it done with a little swearing and skinned knuckles lol

All the best Brett

Well, that's the chance you take when you ask about a RHD caar on a US forum. Interesting to know. Did you take pics?

Hi Dave

No pics as I was too stressed lol...

Basically with RHD its just a plate that your foot rests on covered by carpet with nothing behind it and one 10 mm bolt at the bottom and one locating pin in middle and another at top each with 3 holes for adjustment.

So you undo totally the 10 mm bolt at bottom and remove it.

Pull the plate and carpet away from centre console and the 2 locating pins will pop out.

You then reverse the procedure...i.e. put locating pins back into whichever of the 3 holes you need for adjustment and finally put back in the 10 mm bolt which is NOT as easy as I made that sound and tighten lol...

All the best Brett

So how is the adjustment?

Were you able to find a better height for it so you're more comfortable?

Hi Mike

The adjustment is ONLY front to rear for leg length...

It was already set to middle so I moved it to last hole at rear and luckily as i am only 5.8 it was fine...

All the best Brett
