Not sure if you'll need to mix up the oil a little.
Don't know if any possible metal flecks will settle or not.

I found a dial caliper @ harbor freight for 17$ Now I'll be able to provide a precise measurement.

I thought this was standard equipment for the automatics - check in the glove box under the owners manual
I tried both methods...
Plug in the above referenced numbers in the Harbor Freight search....
While your frustration factor might differ - Given that the caliper must be placed in the same exact place, which I found to be a pain in the ****....
Setting the magnetic base and run out mic on - and zero it - no mistake about the measurement. For $2 more, I assure you, you will appreciate the difference...
Not to mention the same settup comes in handy for many things on the car.

Firemed, THANKS. There's a Harbor Freight pretty close to me, so i'll check it out. Also, I went and mixed the drained oil and put some on black cardboard. I do see some sparsely arranged particles that are left behind.

The power steering pump will groan and moan sometimes, too. What fixed mine was a new power steering reservoir. Apparently the built-in filter in the reservoir was starving the pump.
