Your problem with the tire rub in front is the likely due to the wheel offset. Those wheels look nice, but the high offset needed for the 928 front wheels is rarely available on non-original wheel. Smaller tires will help avoid the rub, but it would be better to look around for some front wheels that are closer to 65 offset. Yours are probably 50. Actually, my current wheels as pictured in my avatar, from a 2002 996, suffer from the same problem. Front offset is 50 and I have to run 205 instead of stock 225 fronts. This really is not ideal, not only in terms of push from smaller contact patch upfront, but it causes more tramlining and other handling anomalies.

The car looks good, and $2800 for a good running supercar with decent paint and livable interior is ridiculous, don't you think?

Poetically put Bill.

Have you looked at the option codes yet to see what the car has?

Nice car!

The rubbing may also me caused by a larger tire than stock. What size is it?

I was going to suggest checking the ride height. Looks like it is sitting pretty low. With the car set at the factory ride height there is a pretty good gap between the fender and tire. 3-4 fingers worth of gap. My tires used to rub on hard cornering util I set the ride to stock specs.

Yep the front is too low. Mine was at that after spring and shock replacement. Don't flame me but there should be about 2 fingers worth of spacing between the fender and the tire. Before checking the ride height make sure your shocks are good. Messing with ride height sucks don't do it unless you have too. Also looks like your front wheels are 50 et and that makes the problem of rubbing worse.

Congratulations on your 928! That's a great color too.

Pegged on oil pressure is normal cold, hot idle is the only time it really drops much, which get a few people excited as too low, but its not clear if even the low readings are of any concern.

Pegged on alt is NOT normal, and generally means the alternator regulator has some issues, best to measure voltage at the jump post and battery with a real meter.

I'd also sort out the wiggle the wire issue near the battery asap.

Getting together with some other local owners to compare notes and have some more experienced eyes look over your car is a great idea.

Those interior issues are normal but EXPENSIVE to fix RIGHT! If you are not afraid of some work though you can take the center console, pod, dash, seats, and interior rear Q-panels out and have them done the way you like them by several different sources. You would then have a NEW CAR pretty much too! How nice would that be?!

Get a paintless dent repair guy on that dent above the exhaust and let them do their work and that will help A LOT and use a bit of touch up paint and you will be good to go... what a great find on a great car!

Get the tire rubbing issue taken care of...would suck to blow a tire at speed because it had been rubbing off and on and you didn't notice it getting bad.

Great looking car! It sounds like you love it, so you made a great decision to buy... especially at that price!

Welcome to the club! The paint looks great. For the interior and nit-noid engine stuff, e-bay and dye will be your friend

Strange things about these cars--they're self healing. The more you drive them, the better they run and the less they leak.

Hard to tell about your speedo and odometer. Could be something simple like a loose conection in the spare-tire area or the common broken plastic gear in the spedometer. If it is the gear, it's a cheap fix--PITA--but cheap.

Again, welcome! / Bruce

His rims look out too far to me, but it could be made more drivable by raising the ride height.

True, but also... the more you drive the better your chances of uncovering failing systems.

Hey congrats on what looks like a good buy.

I wonder if someone didn't loosen that radiator hose clamp to scare away any competing bidders so he could steal it for himself after the auction.

Great story and a good car.

As others have said, there's a pretty active group in that area, they've welcomed me at a GTG or two over the past few years and they're always willing to help out.

Good luck with it and keep us posted!

PS- Contact Roger at 928sRus for the fuel line kit and do that as job #1. The kit is very inexpensive and the job can be done in less than 2 beers and the peace of mind is priceless.
