I just replaced the fuel filter on my 79 euro. My car is running very bad. I can't get it to rev over 1500. It seems as if there is not enough fuel getting to the engine. If you floor it there is a lot of popping but the revs don't go up. The fuel pump is making a lot of noise, but this might be normal since I've never bothered to listen to it while its running. The fuel filter came from the PO and had one of the plastic caps on it so I figured it was good. Any ideas?

 

Also, I took out the fuel accumulator to change the filter since it was to difficult to get the filter off otherwise. Now I'm thinking that air may be trapped in the accumulator.

 

OK I fixed it, the hose beneath the fuel filter got twisted in the sleeve not allowing enough fuel to pass through. I untwisted it till it revved normally, but I would still like to replace that hose.

Man, I would not trust that line any more unless it's brand new. I just went through removing and cleaning my tank, which led to replacing all fuel lines based on what I encountered.

 

Does anyone know a part number on that line, if it has one, at a quick glance I could not find any retailers that sell that specific line. It is a rubber line directly below the fuel filter on a 79 euro. Could I just bring it in to an autoparts store and have them make a new one?

 

The line is either NLA or very expensive. Roger(928srus.com) offers a full kit to rebuild ALL of the soft fuel lines on the car at a reasonable price. I have a writeup on the job here.

If the line was twisted, you probably were not counterholding properly. ALWAYS counterhold fittings when tightening or loosening.
