Default question On aligning the 2 block halves (Im rebuilding a S4 engine)

Yesterday I was trying to bolt the two block halves together so that the machine shop can check for roundness, but I have difficulty aligning the bearing surfaces. the WSM says use the oil pump, which I did.

-But do I need to put the oil pump with its o-ring seal ?

-after torquing the 2 upper oil pump bolts (according to what WSM says) do I need to torque down the 3rd bolt too ?

-Also which torque setting should be used for the connecting rods ?
there are 2 values on WSM, one is 45 ftlb for smooth bearing and 55 ftlb for ridged bearing surfaces. I have no idea what exactly this ridged and smooth bearing thing mean. the rods Im using are GT rods.

I used the oil pump with the old oring and the new front A bearing.

On the nuts, look at the bottom of the rod nuts, they should be the new design that have ridges in them where they go against the rod.

did you torqued down the lower 3rd bolt on the oil pump too, for aligning before torquing down the garddle ?

no, I do not think I did, just the pin, the oil pump and the A bearing should do it.

when you were done could you feel anything when running your finger on the crank bearing surface ?

because I used the A-bearing and oil pump seal and I can still feel the area that the 2 halves are joined. Im starting to think that this block is bad.

did you use the locktite when you put the 2 pieces together.
