Default Bovington Tank Proving Ground - Help for Heroes

Despite the concrete surface and complete lack of run off, I decided to book this track day as all the money was going to HfH.

It was dry for the morning session, and then an MX5 (Miata) rolled, which was being driven by the owners mate. The roll cage saved their lives.

An early lunch to remove the squished MX5 was followed by a heavy downpour, and then I chickened out. Much devastation followed in the wet.
The most spectacular was the M3 that lost control on a fast section, spinning and hitting a concrete oil drum bollard backwards at speed. My mate had hitched a lift in the passenger seat - although not hospitalised he has not fully recovered.

I had hitched a lift in an Evo FQ300, the relatively inexperienced driver was able to propel it faster in the wet than I could drive the 928 in the dry, it was a humbling experience.

Photos of the Challenger tank demo to follow when I get the pics from my mate.

Nice pics! Something right about seeing "helmets on" and a 928 going down the road. Track surface looks to be concrete as opposed to packed asphalt.

First pic is my favorite. A little cropping to draw the focus on the long downhill without the dirt would make it a more interesting pic.... jmo.

Cheers

About "concrete oil drum bollards"
Make sure you take the duct tape with you

It's a Renault Clio 182, which in standard form is 161 bhp/tonne, however they are often modified to approx 220, which makes it about 200 bhp/tonne which is roughly the same as an S4.

This is what happened to the M3 that my mate was riding in. He also has the crash recorded on HiDef video, and I've watched a few times. Although it is very wet, the driver doesn't do anything outrageously stupid, but when it lets go there really is no escape.

Northloop were the official photographers and they donated most of their earnings from the day to HfH.

I'm surprised you had any problems booking, it took me weeks of provaricating before I signed up.

There were plenty of coned chicanes to slow traffic before corners, anyway I was very slow as I am extremely cautious at track day events. There was one straight where I changed in to 4th for a second or two.
