Simple Poll About Broken exhaust Bolt
I've mentioned this before but I have both rear exhaust studs broken off. The driver side is not leaking(As far as I can tell) but the passenger side is leaking like hell. The shark sounds like a farm truck with a blown out glass pack. It's really bad. All the studs are rusted pretty severely. I think pulling the exhaust manifold is probably out of the question because the others would likely break as well. If I drill it on the car it would be with the manifold still in place. Talked to Sean today and we came to the conclusion to just do it. Thought I'd put up a little poll to see what the 928 community would do?

Soak 'em in Kroil for 3 days. Then try and remove and replace. If more break... stop there and try and drill and tap in situ, but I think that would be very hard to do with the manifol in place.

Yes the remaining studs. The broken ones will undoubtedly need to be drilled out, but I think it would be easier with the manifold out of the way. But if the first or 2nd one snaps... just do it.
But I am serious about using Kroil. It's the best stuff period. Get it from Kano labs.

My vote is to pull the engine, replace everything. Only because we talked about this a few minutes ago. LOL

I've since moved from the greatness of PB Blaster to the Godliness of Kroil.

Can't get it at any retail outlet that I know of. Here's the link to the deal Wally posted.

Assuming you can access with the manifold in place (and the engine in the car) I would use the manifold to help guide the process. The catch is that you need to be very careful not to have the drill walk off the bolt and take out manifold material.
All this maybe for nothing though if the gasket is blown out and you need to remove the manifold anyway.
