I hit it, not dropped it, he sat it on the fender in the front!

I am thinking about this and the only thing that was done differently. the cam gears were set to 45 and ready to go with no belt on it. When the Porken tool was put on the drivers cam gear the cam was turned forward and back-wards to line it up to 0. We then found out that we received a 16 valve cam gears and the tool was taken off.
I am wondering if this would cause the drivers cam to be off and still show the mark to be correct. The other thing we did not count the teeth, could there be different cams for the 86.5 or I received the wrong ones. I need to pull the cover off again and check it.
The 0 marks all line up but its a dog and with the cats getting hot it seems like something is off.
We were feeling a vibration as soon as we started it.

Are both banks firing? If not, coil and/or distrib / rotor problem. I think the rotors go on only one way, though. Both installed and sitting right? Coil wires on/ok?

Recheck timing marks, recheck timing ( are cam nuts tightened ).

Is Euro maf same as USA maf?

Red hot cats means that there is raw fuel getting into the exhaust, being ignited by the cats.

If you have the spark timing or the valve timing correct the only thing left is fuel control - do you have fuel being fed into the intake through one of the vacuum lines from the fuel pressure regulators or fuel pressure damper? I seem to recall reading a post recently where the pressure regulator and damper got mixed up when the intake was refreshed and the results were not far off from what you have.

I checked both coil grounds and they are good. What I did find is the pas coil was wet and corroded inside the tower. I need to see about replacing that but my brother took the keys with him.

I'd ask if you need to use one to check it out with...
