radial tire side swapping
I've got some Carerra III's wheel/tire combo's with the staggered set up.
So I know which pair are for the front and which are for the back. But...
Can you swap sides? I remember when I was a wee lad and when radials just came out that was a big diff from bias ply. No swapping sides. Was that just decades ago, or does it still hold true know?
The tires are sportcontact2's so not unidirectional tread (just "this side out"), so I cant tell which side to put them on.
I bought these expecting to buy new rubber, but they must have at least 50% left. And the fronts 235/40/18 would seem to be a good fit. Backs are 265/40/18 which seem to be a stretch.
So, can you swap sides?

these don't have a snowball's chance in Hell of being worth a crap in rain.
think I'll give the fronts a try, but get 265/35/18's for the rear

There should be a rotation arrow on the sidewall somewhere if it matters. If so, just have the tires re-mounted on the rims to swap sides. Otherwise, swap away.

Many assymetric traed patterns are specific for inside/outside. If so you can just swap L/R wheels, but can't remount with the inside of the tire on the outside if you plan to go around corners. Mine have little 'OUTSIDE' in the rubber right by the bead. That and the fat whitewalls are a good sign, at least for me.

I just swapped my rears last week. They are specific to which side needs to be out, but not rotational direction. No issues yet and 3000 miles on them this way.
