Default Buying a 928 with busted head gasket

I found a 5 spd 1989 with about 220k miles that has milkshake like oil. The owner said this happened about 6 months ago and the car has been parked since then. The paint is original and the interior is in good shape "for a 20 year old car". Since its been parked so long I suspect the engine may be worthless because of the water mixing with the oil. Or that may not be necessarily the case? I am waiting to see if the car an LSD. It may be a nice project so I can get a 928 engine open :-).

How much is it be worth?

2k, 3k, 4k, 5k???

Offer $1000

Ya have to consider if it's a S4, and an auto, it's worthless anyway.

With an engine like that, its only going to be bought by someone who'll either part it out, or who does their own mechanical work.

Given that a lower miles, running '89 5 speed was having trouble selling at $9000, and was picked up as a non-runner for $4500 by bgibby, with electrical woes rather than engine.

I'd say $1.5k would more than fair to the owner. As a non-runner, you can't check the gearbox or clutch either, and with 220k miles, chances are one of those two will require work too.

Try for $1k

Curious if you have seen it prior to making the conditional offer?

Nope, if he is willing to accept $2500 based on his description I will be interested enough to drive a few hours to look at the car otherwise I will not waste my time driving for the asking price of $5k.
