The main hole centerline for the antenna is 1-1/2in from the back and 3-3/4in from the front. So you need 1-1/2in from your hole centerline to the edge of the roof. It works for me, but I'm not an electronics person, so I can't be much help beyond that. It has an installation instruction sheet with it. I could try to scan and email that to you if you'd like.

I even had one company email me the measurements of their 3 models to see if any would work. None would.

So Rod, would the ones you have work using the existing hole in her roof without causing the base to overhang in the rear? Or would I have have to make a new hole in the roof further from the edge?(not doing that). And if it did fit ok, she just wants it for her radio, no GPS, or sat-radio, nothing but a radio. Would it simply plug n play?? If so, I'd definitely want one of those Rod.

Yes, I came across these. The problem is that they still use the stock antenna base, which I believe is dead or dying on mine. I'd have to replace the base and install this fin on top of it.

Well, that's not a terrible problem I suppose... at least I know it will fit the current mounting position, and the conversion back-to-OEM would be fairly easy.

Ah-HAH! I didn't notice that those were from a totally different product line! I am going to email them to find out more and confirm the dimensions. Yeah, the MB-1 looks like the best bet since it has the least rear ovehang. And it looks like it uses a standard coax antenna connection as well, but I will confirm that too.

Thanks potsie!

PS - I am from Woodbridge. We probably went to Amity together. PM me to reminisce

VehiGAZ,
You should get one from Rod. He has exactly what you were looking for.

I got one. Thanks a bunch, Rod.

So does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove the old antenna base? I saw that the stem of the base comes through the roof opening, the wires run through it, and there is a big nut in a tiny recess in the roof panel holding it on. You can't get a socket on the nut because of the wires, and there is not much room for a wrench to get in the recess. It looks like you could maybe get the wrench directly over the nut, but you would have no leverage to turn it. Do you have to cut the wires??

The fin antenna appears to have the wires going off to the side so you can use a socket on the nut.

The response from Sigma Auto:

1) MB-1 is not in stock, no ETA at this time, sorry.
2) You can paint it with non-metallic paint only. We don't paint anything here.

Help me Rod - you're my only hope!

Just send me your mailing address, I'll get a price and if you PayPal me, I can send it yet today.

That is a lot of pressure on me though. I hope you like it.

Too bad about the MB-1 availability. That looks like the perfect unit.

You're welcome!

I switched back to the lady in red (my original avatar) in solidarity of another rennlister who was getting hassled for an innocuous avatar. Enjoy!

Just some anonymous Hungarian grid girl from an old F1 race. She sure is special, though, huh?
