Default Can someone tell me what this is? " UHO "

I have a UHO " unidentified hanging object " in the main fuse panel. Looks like a pull switch " headlight ". Any idea?

Probably an aftermarket stereo or alarm installation, there is no telling what it is until you trace the wires.

Mounted like that, and in that location, I would have to say that is called a "Fire Hazard".

WTF does it do anyway?

Is it a kill switch? That was the rage in the 80's. A Hidden inline switch for the ignition. When parking for long periods, like at the Airport, you opened the switch preventing the car from starting.

Could be anything. Mine came with a small rocker switch in the center console that killed the tach... Not sure why or what else it killed but I just took it out.

I would disconect the battery first and then start to trace out the origin of this. It looks like one of the white wires is connected to a relay post. Get a relay/fuse chart (most of the vendors have a copy on their web sites) and see which post this is.

We need a bigger picture of where the wires run too. Right now it's just a switch till we know where the wires run too. In a side note I have to install a toggle switch for the in dash DVD player to work. Some would think that was crazy if they didn't know what it went to.

That looks like a hack!!

Let's all try to remember label stuff when we install "extras".

That reminds me, I'll bet my SR1 wiring would be confusing to someone.

I am about to make wiring changes to my car. How should I make them so that someone doesn't call them a hack? I am thinking about including a wiring chart / schematic in the glove box. Also, perhaps tape labels to the wires. Consistent colors if possible. Anything else? The wiring has to be changed, so "leave it stock" is not an option.

After you pull that switch, please remember to keep the car under 88 mph.

I plumbed all my wiring external to the fuse panel and center console and got all sorts of flack for having wires all over the place.

Definitly not stock. It does look like a kill switch of some sort. Try pulling it and see what happens when you try to start the car. If it's been in there all along, and you've been driving it, then it shouldn't hurt to activate it and see what happens.
You'll want to study the wiring diagrams annd remove it at some point. I found a melted and fused bundle in my panel, and was lucky not to have had a fire. See: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...-meltdown.html

I re-did the whole thing last winter, following Sharkskin's electrical panel R&R, plus other helpful threads on here and elsewhere. I have a full set of WSM in both hard copy and on cd, and that is essential too (cd is fine - alot less expensive, altho I like the hard copy better). Keep us posted.

I had the car running and as suggested, pulled the switch. At that moment, I heard a loud " clank " and the car became very loud. I looked under the car and the muffler had fallen off. Obviously, this is the switch for an aftermarket muffler ejector system. Never would have guessed it!

Actually, I think the " Kill " switch is most likely, I found a hole where it had been mounted just under the glove box, through the tray that runs under the glove box.

What you said - but use factory wire colors and use the correct terminals and do it all on the central electric panel - there are enough spare fuses & relays for most things....
