I SAW THAT TOO!!! from the S2000 guys who were talking about a Willow Springs Time Attack.
Lets talk about the issues here, although it might look good on paper.
Ill have to check out how fast this clown ran.

You guys ought to have a look at the front of an old IMSA GTP car or Group C car (Porsche 956/962, Toyota Mk. III) sometime. The front part of the undertray is actually a wing mounted upside down, just before the front wheels. The one on the car in this thread just happens to be mounted externally. I'm not at all surprised it works.

yes, its the real deal!
I guess, no surprise it works, with all the drag it makes. (say it makes 300lbs of downforce that would be only about 30lbs of drag at 100mph or 7 or so ft-lbs of torque at the engine) so, it can be VERY useful, especially with 1000hp ! yes, 1000hp. man, we are way behind the curve!!

I remember those. Canam was just a aerodynamically silly looking. I'd be interested in what sort of changes they make between tracks. Tracks with dramatic elevation changes might disrupt the turbulence between the front wing, roof and rear wing.
Does anyone remember the Mercedes that went airborne a few years back at Le Mans?

Errrr. You already have a huge lump of stuff in the front trunk to keep the front wheels down.
Only problem I see is that with the fat front wing up high like what he had done, he might lose some vision on transition from level ground to climbs. Or when the car is at the bottom of a valley.
Didn't the early Can-Am cars try front and rear wings.

I'm surprised he has enough power to make that a benefit instead of just a drag. But I know about zero about scions. Aren't those Toyotas in disguise? A turbo?
When I saw the title I thought maybe it was one of the "racer/ricer" cars with the wing slanted the wrong way. See those occasionally. That's smart. Makes the car lighter as it goes faster so then it'll accelerate faster. That's how airplanes work and those are pretty fast.

My cup wing, which is pretty close comparison to what he has on the front of that car, puts out about 250lbs of downforce at 120mph. Now, guess what the drag is? yep, about 10% or 25lbs. at 120mph, what gear are you in? 4th, 3.2:1??? thats about 8ft-lbs of torque off the engine, so its not much.
By the way, the "Toyota" makes near 1000hp flywheel. Yes, one thousand horsepower!
Now, wings wrong way slants, makes the ligher, acclerates faster, thats smart, thats how airplanes do it? I didnt see any faces, so are you serious????
