Bertrand -
Clock springs are designed so continuity can be checked without removing them (first video). These are the number one cause of this kind of intermittent air bag lights in all cars. They just get worn out and it doesn't take much of a break to cause the problem. To the naked eye the clock spring can appear normal. And even the continuity test can look OK, as it is an intermittent problem. Eventually it will get worse and the light will be on more often than not. If you've freshened all the other connections it would not be unreasonable to replace the clock spring on an "aged out" basis. It's beyond it's expected service life at this point.

I have the same problem with my car - both display and warning light come on and leave after few seconds.
This looks like a bad connection to me. But no fault is stored (I think) as both the warning and display lights turn off after about 5 seconds.

- I cleaned (Deoxit) both crash sensor connections.
- Removed the airbag and steering wheel and clean all connections there.
- Removed the cluster and cleaned the four big connections. After reading Nicole's post here, I thought this could be the problem.

All this without any luck...

Any other suggestion?

Thank you.
Just a little follow up on this.

I still had this problem this Spring.
Now it's gone.

It stopped after I changed the... Water pump on the car in June!

The only thing I can see that - maybe - could have fix this is removing/reinstalling the 14 pins connector and/or the 3 connectors at the jump post.
Not sure what in those connectors are related, if it is related, to the airbag system but didn't get any more warning since then!

I like it when things fixed them by them self like that!

Any thoughts guys?

Low voltage at the sensor inside the air bag controller will trigger a warning. If you cleaned(or even if you didn't) the jump post, you may have removed just barely enough resistance to the voltage serving the air back ctlr so that it now is getting enough voltage to not trigger a warning.

Good point Doc.

I didn't clean those connectors this year but put some Deoxit last year.

Maybe it needed to be reseated.

I ran across your posting and it fits my issue on my 1990 928S4 pretty darn close. I also do not fit well under the dash and at 77 years old I don't fit in a lot of places anymore so any help in this with additional pics, suggestions , etc greatly appreciated. My plan is to clean the connector with DeOxit and then clean it again hoping that will solve the problem

As an addition to my above post. The code thrown on the drivers side airbag was for high resistance. Im still going to try and find that connector for the drivers side and clean the hell out of it and cross my fingers

Since you know the code, does your tool also allow you to clear the faults after cleaning the connector? I was messing around in the dash a lot this past winter and I tripped that same code. I bought one of these UDT999 and worked awesomely to clear the fault. Looking back, I should have bought the UDT999 a long time ago to count knocks, cycle the PSD, etc.

tThanks for the reply. Yes the codes were cleared. My machanic was factory trained on the 928 and was able to reset the code. That lasted about two month then popped up again. This time the code read that it was unresetable. My machanic suggested to do what you advised by cleaning the hell out of the connector then try a reset

I get that error code once a year. I clean the three pin connector using DeOxit followed by plugging and unplugging the connector. I clear the code and wait for the next time.
