Niklas suggests the following - "when you plug in a new device to the USB port, Windows usually displays that "Found new hardware, looking for drivers" pop up and it has a Cancel button. So you should just hit Cancel and so tell Windows not to try to install any drivers, then try to run the ST software".
Does anyone runs the ST on Windows 10? I am not able to have a reliable connection (disconnect errors) between the ST and my laptop. I tried with different USB ports and different usb cables.
I've used ST2 with Win10 with no problems, but normally use my Win7 computer.
Does it start normally and load from PEMs OK? When does it disconnect? When the engine is running?
Have you tried a different computer, to rule out possible issues with BootCamp?
How is the computer powered? Try running it on battery, sometimes external computer power can create a ground loop (I never experienced problems with ST2, but with other external devices).

It think I found my issue - it looks like the usb connector on my Mac are not tight enought and permits the cable to move. I did a few runs last Monday and most of the disconnects happen after I hit a bump.
Just a thought since it is a chore with Windows, their versions and upgrades. Why don’t we have the application built on top of Linux micro kernel so it can be installed on any VM or bare metal and forget about the Windows OS?

Get windows, dont upgrade. *shrug*. My surface Pro3 works well enough, its the only thing it does.
pulled out the sharktuner on the USB drive i had it on and plugged it into a MS surface pro...windows 10 pro...etc
cant get the program to load.
is the Sharktuner compatible with this "newer" surface pro or do i have to fish around on EBAY for an older "laptop"..
Tony, Yes compatible but you need to install on your computer, and not try to run a copy installed on a different computer. There are some library files that get installed into the system folders. Send me a note to support at sharktuner dot net.

I guess Jim answered you. I got it to run on my new Dell Inspiron 13 700 with Core i7-10510U processor a few months ago, so it does work on the newer hardware, even at 4K.
