Default Rod Bearing Replacement Question - Oil Pick Up Tube

I got out engine cross member and motor mounts last night. About to drop pan and begin rod bearings. Do I need to remove the oil pick up tube (suction tube) as I do not have the sealing ring, 928 107 136 04 that is shown where tube goes into block.

Thanks all

I did not remove the oil pick up tube when I did the rod bearings. However since you now have access to the tube it would be a good idea to replace the seal. They have been a source of low/no oil pressure and at some point will need to be replaced.
Also I am sure you already know this but just incase. You need to use new rod nuts when you replace the bearings. They are a one time use.

How much is the approximate cost for bearings and nuts?

Another vote for the seal on the pickup WYAIT. Cheap insurance, and the thing can be sucking air for a long time before you realize there is a problem.

Thanks for the responses, looks like a call to Dave or Mark to get the seal + oil filter. Already have new rod bolts (ribbed). Pan is off, no sludge, very clean, car has close to 170K hard miles. Front bolts are a complete PIA, perhaps order stud kit from 928 motor-sports

Another question, what size fastener to use on the 928 GTS baffle that I am going to install?

Hard to believe, but I am actually enjoying doing this. After rod bearings and mounts, next issue is fixing the AC + suspension freshening

Got it covered. Using ANchor purchased from 928 Motorsports. I'll post a photo of old vs new as the old were not completely collapsed. WIll be refreshing trasmission mounts as well.

Back to under the car

For the GTS oil baffle I used a 6mm-1.0 tap along with a 10mm (head size) bolts. Take your time when drilling for the tap as there is not a lot of room for a misaligned drill bit.

Thanks for info on baffle hardware. Go #3 and #7 bearing off the car. They are as new. Pretty good for a car with 170K miles with 12K or so of them track miles
