My 928 Paint Restoration...and other projects

No Paul, they are actually Front fenders cut at the right area, flip perfectly to opposite sides of the rear if that makes sense. You get a smooth flare, rather than the "shelf type flare" found on the GTS. These actually widen the car by 2 and 1/2" per side but you can't see an obvious protrusion, it just looks wide and fat.
Do you have a stash of front fenders?

I had not noticed until you mentioned it. I am thinking of doing this on mine sometime in the future. Was it easy to do?
You have side markers on the US cars, but no indicator repeaters in the front wing/fender is this normal? Could you have deleted the side markers or is this law?

Obviously my euro S4 doesn't have the side markers, but it does have rubbing strips and the flag mirrors. I have a set of teardrops to go on when they get painted (might get around to this one day as I have had them about 2 years!). I would like to modify the teardrops to fit some indicator repeaters in there instead of the wing/fender and delete the rubbing strips and headlight washers for a really smooth look.
Currently working on restoring the engine bay at the moment, then I will sort out the interior and after all that get the outside sorted. That is if I don't spend the cash on a supercharger kit which I am very tempted by at the moment.
Like the idea on the rear fenders, good work.

That looks pretty awesome, Kevin! Aren't you glad you didn't try to graft on some RX-7 fenders???
But I have to say, it could look even better with some smoked side markers, and either smoked or clear turn signal lenses, along with the Euro trim conversion (no bumper between turn signal and fog lights).

I was talking to Hans tonight about his paintwork and he mentioned wanting a wing a bit different than stock. I mentioned my modded stock wing detailed here in this thread and he remarked that he didn't notice the difference. I got to thinking I wanted the mod subtle but maybe it is too subtle and therefore a lot of fabrication for not a lot of result. Anyone willing to share ideas before I make any more of these?

The finals are on page 2. Sorry the thread is confusing, my wife uploaded too many of the pics that didn't need to be, then she bi@$%#ed about the quality of my photography skills for the finals on page 2. I should have hired Earnest to drive down and do it right I guess.

Kevin... nice work!
You know... you could always go back & edit those posts and remove the pics you don't think are necessary.... They take quite a while to load, but they do show the complete transformation.
I have also thought about using the front fenders for a better contour on the rear quarters... but I have a metallurgical question for you: What did you do to keep the aluminum/steel cross-contamination from being an issue later on? I had been told when I was considering the same thing that aluminum & steel do not happily coexist and corrosion will form at the juncture due to that incompatibility. Or, did you use fiberglass racing pieces?
