Default Complete Custom Wheels On a 928

Guys

I know a few of you are running wheels from CCW in daytona

I'm thinking of getting a set of C2K's or LM20 3pc

Is there any advantage to running a 3pc wheel ?

How are the wheels holding up to brake dust any corrosion starting at all

My sizes will be 10" x 18 Front , 11" x 18 rear

Offsets not chosen yet any ideas

My newb friend just purchased a set of C10's, same as mine 9.5 et68 and 10 et52 by 18" I haven't seen them yet. With smaller diameter Hypercoil springs you may be able to go 10" and 11" with higher offsets than the ones we used and push the wheels inward a little.

Hi

I've got leda shocks with nice small springs so thats shouldnt be a problem, my only concern is my thicker anti roll bar but i'm sure i have enough room.

The inside of the wheel on your ccw's is it straight or does it slope out, i have 10" ET65 on the front and it has a slope on the inside so behind the wheel its not as wide as the back, i'm hoping the ccw wheels dont have this as i need a 6mm spacer with the brakes i'm havingh made at the moment to run with my current wheels which is why i'm wanting to go with ccw.

I have CCW C10's on my track 928.... 18x10x 9 inch backspacing in front with 295/30-18 and 18x12x 8.25" backspacing rear + a small spacer with 335/30-18 rear tires....

The rear has GTS fenders welded in + rolling...the front is nearly stock other than narrower 2.5" springs on the coilovers and double rack stops + a bit of fender rolling....I can turn lock over and get pretty good U turns with my current setup....heres some pics

Sure its easy
http://www.autolounge.net/calculators/tirespacing.html

So my front wheels are 88.9mm offset... The rears are a bit more "normal" at 44.4mm

I don't have a picture of the double rack stops, but it works like this....on the steering rack between where the tie rod threads into the rack is thick (maybe .5") washer that acts as a limiter to how far the steering rack will move (since it only moves until it hits the washer)...by adding another washer you limit the max steering by another .5" or so....how much it translates into reduced turning angle I don't know...I do know that with my high camber-low ride height front suspension I can get pretty good turning radius...maybe just a bit larger than my stock 928...

FYI, one of our local guys is talking with CCW about having them make a set of BIG phone-dials. Dunno where it will go, but I suspect the end result will require more than one person to be interested in a set (CN&C set-up costs are going to, I think, be more than expected...)

Thanks Brian

I'm sure roger could get those washers for the rack

Could your front wheels fit with a 285 30 tyre and not need the fender rolled

Why do you need 10" wheels up front? just do 9.5" and be happy. If you are going to the track, you will need oiling help (accusump + etc) long before you need more than 9.5/10" front to back.
Then you will have wheels that are even sellable and usable to any other 928 driver if you have to.

.5s and 11s work great with no fender issues with 8" backspacing front and rear. I have 10s too, but the fronts are 8.5"backspacing. 275 to 305 up front, but you need to do some fender moving to get the 305s up front.

No accusump needed! 150+ race days. (105 of them on the holbert chassis and motor) no oiling issues.

There is a company that does phone dial wheels for Diablo kit cars, who said they could make their wheels in 928 bolt pattern and backspacing... I can't find the link offhand, but I always thought an updated phone dial wheel would look really nice on a newer 928.

Here are a bunch of pictures and links to companies that make custom wheels in that design:

Ya the rack spacers are CHEAP..only a few bucks and you probably need new tie rods anyway....

The 285 tire would fit even easier....the 295 fits with ZERO issues...however when I ran a slightly lower ride height and alignment settings with 305/35 front tires they rubbed something horrible

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEisdE0Hk_Q

The sound in this video is LOW..but you can still hear the rubbing big time!
I think the issue with the 305 tire rubbing was more related to its height than its width....since the 305/35 is a very tall tire at about 26.3"

Brian

Do you have fender liners still up front ?

Mark

Your 10" with 8.5 back spacing works out as a 76.1 offset, looks good

BC

I think those wheels would look cool on an OB
