I have a top to bottom crack in my dash and it is driving me crazy. I was thinking of replacing it and the counsel with leather and have 3 questions.
1. Are 928 International or 928 Specialist the only stores that carry these parts?
2. I have some mechanical experience am I getting in over my head?
3. Are there special tools I would need?
Thanks,
Doug

you might try getting your parts recovered. There a re very talented craftsman that do this do a search
The dash is not hard to remove but it is time intensive, TAKE pictures
A set of 1/4 drive metric sockets and a few screwdrives of differing sizes should work.
Also if you do this you should consider replacing all 4 of the vacuum pots and resealing the blower box 3 pods in the center and one in the blower box flap

It's alot of work, but nothing too complex. Take pictures and notes per Mrmerlin's suggestion. Take your time and if it gets hard, just take a break for a day.
Do a search of the forums as I'm sure someone has posted a step-by-step guide with pictures of the removal process.
As for the pod and dash, I would get them recovered in leather by Paul Champagne (site sponsor). He is in Texas. I think there is another guy that does 928 leather work in Michigan. I would also get the center console recovered too, so they will all match. If the expense is too much for leather, then you should be able to find vinyl replacements (unless your 928 has an odd interior color).

Definitely replace those HVAC vacuum pods when you have the dash out.

Doug - I've been partially down that path, so I can help. Definitely a job you can tackle, but must be real organized in disassembly for it all to go back together right. Nott hard, though. Also a good time to catch the WYIT's. Call me (I'll be out of town until next week tho - getting Blumaxx this Friday!).

I just replaced my dash, RnR'd the Pod, and replaced the bladders in the A/C vacuum system on my '89. Here are two web links that helped me. I would check the vacuum system while you have it all apart.
