Somewhat on topic, I've noticed that my oil pressure gauge is very slow to respond. What I mean is, when I rev the car up fast to 4k RPM (fully warmed up), I see the gauge slowly climbing up past 4 bar. Same thing when I let go and it drops to idle, the gauge slowly drops to 2 bar. It's impossible for the pressure to drop so slow, since the oil pump is driven by the timing belt, right?

The hole in the sender is extremely small. Porsche really should have found a way to mount it with this hole facing down. It may be nearly plugged, Dan. I'd say check that and maybe replace it before using it for diagnosis. The response on most cars is pretty fast. 2 Bar sounds pretty low -- you're not using the Kibort-recommended Wesson, are you?

Ha! I would be crucified by Kibort because I'm running M1 15W-50. It seems most of the later 32V cars like to run at 2 bar at idle when hot. My '86 used to run at 3 bar idle when hot with the same oil. I'll check out the sender when I replace the thermostat springs. The cams and surrounding areas were really clean and no gunk in sight when I did my valve cover gaskets.

The sender sees unfiltered oil, so the cleanliness around the cams is really no guarantee that the sender isn't partially plugged.
