Anti lock brake, air bag and check engine light come on. No tach, fuel or oil pressure gauges as well as no digital computer display. Car runs ok. What am I missing? Why would they all go at once? 91 928gt, 5 speed, 43k miles. thanks in advance.

Central Eletric issue. Check the fuses.

The interior dome light (front or rear) power wire shorted against the roof and blew the fuse. Same fuse for the dome light as the instrument panel light.
Pop out the dome lights and I'll bet one is cracked with the wire touching.

It's fuse #25 I believe. It's a good idea to change out your lights to the VW style ones--they're the same size as Porsche one so they pop right in, you just need to devise a way to wire them because the harness is different. I ended up going to VW and ordering the wire harness (I think they were $1.50 or something like that). I have the part number at home (I hope); I can give it to you if you're interested.

disconnect the battery B4 popping out the lights . My suggestion is if you find any that are melted then replace them,, make sure to wire them correctly and add some heat shrink to connectors on the hot wires on all of the lights

VW wiring harness part #: 1T0 972 703
VW dome light part #: 3B0 947 291 B B41 (I think one of the "B"s is for black so if you want another color you may want to check into the part number a little bit).

Here is the culprit. I used light last night and it must have cracked and shorted. Fuse 25 was blown. It is amazing this circuit controls so many things. Thanks to all for the quick diagnosis.
