So if the clip is in situ and looks like its been there for a 'while' I assume the Hall sensor to be factory and in my case 21 YO...........time for a change.

Well, I thought I needed 4 (2 for the GT and 2 for the stroker) but come to think of it I can't get the replacement connectors to seat all the way 'into' the brackets, so the clip wouldn't fit anyway. Oh well.

So what do we needd to do to modify the bracket? A little work with the file before they go off to the plater?

All you have to do is put a cable tie on the bottom of the clip.
At least on my 87.

If you loosen the Phillips screw on the cable clamp for the new (shorter-cabled) Hall sensors you can extend the connection cable by the few millimeters necessary to orient the connection in the factory position. Then position the connector in the bracket and wind the Hall sensor into place in the cover and install the assembly on the motor.

Ryan-
I have to school some grad students in the ways of IBD pathogenesis in a seminar tomorrow afternoon, and there may be an untimely death or two given the long weekend (I'm on service this upcoming week), but you can just dump stuff on my porch any time this week- I won't get a chance to play in the garage again until Saturday.
