I'm not sure which plugs you are talking about. Since I am in the middle of rebuild, it seems new products and items pop up every day that adds to my large laundry list of to do items before I can be finished and start driving... Are these the actual cam seal cap end plugs you are talking about? What is Tony's actual web site address? confused again...
Not the ~2" round end caps that are visible at the front and rear of the heads (PET just calls them 'covers')- in the '87-91 S4/GT there are these almost round (they have flats on part of their circumference) black plastic plugs that fit where the pins are in the rearmost cam journal in the GTS head. The GTS just uses metal pins to block the oil holes.
I find all the information regarding what oil to use in a 928 to be really confusing..., mines a 1980 928s and in the drivers handbook it states that a good quality oil like Shell 20/50 should be used.

Right.....I think a little experimentation with oil brands/viscosity is in order, to find the best that works for the local climate, so as to keep the oil pressure at 2 - 3 bar for idle and 5 bar at 4k RPM. 10W 40 is the highest viscosity that I will use for the Northern mid-atlantic during winter and I may move to 15W-50 in the summer.
I suspect that track cars require much more careful selection and can rely on experimentation less.
