I made my best attempt at checking end-float this evening.

First note is that the car already has a double-bolt pinch clamp installed on the flex-plate collar. Second, only about 1mm of spline was showing beyond the flex-plate collar.

I found my straight edge was too long - I'll need to obtain a shorter one for future checkups. I had difficulty in getting repeatable measurements as the front edge of the upper bell-housing opening was quite irregular due to... (? previous prying in that area ?). After making several sets of measurements, I am estimating that my end-play is approximately 0.010." I'd rather have measurements that were repeatable over multiple trials, but given the state of the flex-plate to spline measurement, the existing double-bolt clamp and a near-spec measurement, I'm satisfied for now. In retrospect, I probably should have used a file, etc. to smooth out the area of the bell-housing that I was measuring against...
