Default 86.5 no start

New fuel pump and filter tank was full of jello. Have spark via timing light and inj firing via node lamp, have fuel pressure via face full of gas with rail not off. I am thinking plugged up inj, how much starter fluid should I use to test it?

IMO, theres no need to test w/ started fluid if you've already confirmed spark.

Didn't you clean your injectors on your other 86 once? You can fire your injectors off the car with a 9v battery. Angel made a little tester that pushed fluid to the injector from a pressure vessel and then he actuated the inj. with a 9v battery. You could make something similar or just blow air through it with the noid cycling. Angel will probably let you borrow the tester. Call me if you want his #.

Car started with fluid, I pulled the passenger bank and have them on the bench. I filled them with sea foam and they flowed with voltage applied. I hope thats it I thought they would be blocked.

I think you need to find a way to flush the fuel lines. Its possible to build pressure but not get volume to speak of.

Also, did you backflush the pump itself?

I did not back flush from the motor, new filter and pump. Owner ran it died replaced the pump with a used one it died. He said it ran both times so unless fuel is not reaching the injectors or the pump is blocked it should run. I was surprised the injectors flow as well as they did. I opened the rail and fuel burst out. So whats the next step?

You are rolling the dice using starter fluid, brake clean is far safer.

I've had success campaigning through all the known suspect subsystems simultaneously, repeatedly if needed, than trying to find the single culprit.

Starting fluid is so volatile that it can mask vac leaks as well as weak or intermittent spark. (say from weakened battery)
I'd move the noid light to the other bank and try it there. Clean all grounds including CE and coil grounds, pull caps and very gently polish electrodes and rotor with a fine dremel wire brush.

Try to start again. If no start, try foot-to-floor flood clear method.

How clean did you get tank / lines before adding the new pump and filter? I've never seen gelled fuel, so next I'd be flushing, backflushing the new pump, changing the filter again if need be. Obstructed check valve is possible. If nothing else, I'd rig a safe system to pump fuel from the tank to the rail, maybe into an old gas can, just to be sure that you have volume and not some restriction that allows some pressure to build but not pass volume.

Knowing you, the car's already running by the time you read this though.

How old is the gas in the car? How full has the tank been?

Is this the one you just picked up? The one where I tried to get the seller to raise his price?

If you opened the fuel rail and fuel burst out, I think you're getting gas up to the front of the car. Have you checked the regulator/dampers with a vacuum pump to see if they're leaking and causing the engine to flood?

Same car
We cleaned the tank, took a couple of hours filters and pump changed. I found two intake boots leaking, seller had messed with them so that could be the issue, have new o'ring injectors and boots coming. I concur that starter fluid will run anything even with a huge vacuum leak. I just want to avoid pulling and checking things that don't matter. Or the other side, put it back together and have to take it back apart. This is my brothers car I am helping to get it running and see what is actually wrong with it. If it's junk we will part it out!
