I just tell them the alternator is bad and I can not afford a new one.

Tell 'em it's your Hybrid charging system.

I had a V-1 that made alot of that whine. I bought a new V-2 SQ from Tim M. to get a more quiet ride. I miss that whine. If anyone would like to trade straight up for my V-2 SQ for their V-1 or equivalent let me know. BTW my V-2 is a polished unit with maybe 5k miles on it.

Thanks to everyone for your comments, you are all very welcome!

Wow, what a great Sharks in the Mountain this year, official count was 99 928s and 160+ people! Jeannie, Wally, Jim and myself can't thank you enough for coming to spend the weekend with us! It was great to see all of our "ole" 928 friends again and also great to see a lot of new faces and make new 928 friends this year!

Honestly with the current economic situation etc., I really thought we wouldn't have as many people as normal, once again you guys surprised me! Not only did we have a lot of 928s, but once again it was the best looking group of 928s I have ever seen assembled in one location! Even my sister-in-law Debbie (who isn't really a "car person") told me over and over how great all the 928s looked this year. She noticed that all of you are making them nicer and nicer each year she sees them!

Special thanks to Hans and Katie for all of their help the last few days before the event, you guys are the best!! Also a big thank you to Ernest, Bobby, Melinda, Wally and everyone else that pitched in to help us with the event!

On a personal note I do appreciate that everyone "played" safe this year and there were no real "mishaps" at our event..... and no phone calls from the local authorities!! THANKS!!!

Once again a big thank you for the 928 Owners Club support of our event!

Jim M , sorry to see your mishap on the trip home, that is truly a darm shame, BUT I know you will have it better than new in no time at all!

Thanks again to everyone who came to visit it us!!!

We drove. We ate. We talked. We laughed. We got no tickets.

Thanks Dave and Jeannie.

You can hear it a lot more with the sun roof open.

You're right that it's the gears making the whine not the belt. If the belt was making the noise there'd be something to look into.

Mitchel had a "Bandit" car, black trans am, with a pete jackson gear drive, the loud version, you could hear that thing a half mile away, man it was loud.

He took me for a very thrilling ride in it once, after SITM, I think we are even now.

Indeed. Two righteous dudes and two righteous cars. (Jim and Dave!)

Just an update for SITM attendees who saw me leave my sc'ed 87 behind at Dave and Jeannies. my shark should be on the way back to the big D now and will arrive Friday afternoon. Found Posey logistics to do the deal for $600. Not bad for an inoperable car (tranny went kaput)!

Thanks again to Jim Doerr, Andrew, Stan and Dave K among many others offering to help me get it back home. What a great group of people!

A huge thanks to Dave and Jeannie for keeping her safe during a huge hailstorm that passed through Spruce Pine. Those two ran out in the pouring rain and covered my car up with comforters and blankets from their house. Thery were soaked to the bone but did that stop them? Hells NO!

You guys rock!

That is great that they were able to keep your car from being damaged.
