Hello Mark, your car just looks great on a track, it sit's beautifully well done.
Can I ask where you got your side mirrors from. Are they home made or from another make car? It's the one thing I have never liked about the 928 is it's side mirrors.
Nice work.

Hey Glenn,
Thanks! The mirrors were bought used from a guy several years ago. They are made by Jacquemond, though. I will say that while they look good, provisions for installation and installing the glass in them are not the best. Try to contact Jacquemond and see if he can give you more information on the mounting and whatnot.

Thanks for that Mark, will try my luck with them.
I've subscribed to this (your) thread. You have the most interesting looking race 928 I've seen.
Cheers,
Glenn

If an idea is worth stealing.. it was stolen in the first place.. I think Mark had a looksie at this Tonka 928 in his childhood. Fenders look oddly familiar to his.
I really need to guts to start cutting. I really like the front end look of yours now. With some ott flares I would be good to go.

I had to quit thinking about it and just do it. Tape the lines off with a high-contrast tape and use an air cutoff tool. I'm looking forward to seeing someone else do it. Isn't someone selling some new Ott flares for a good price?

Woah there, just a friendly warning. I've made a few of those choices on race cars and others don't read the rules the same way. I've had a few of the "I'll let you out this time, but fix it by next time" warnings. I got tired of fighting the rule nannies so I'm selling the non-928.

I'm going to do it. I haven't decided how to deal with the gap or if I'm going to keep the headlight holes. I was looking at the car last night thinking about how a similar process could be used on the rear. Maybe cut the quarter panel vertically just in front of the bumper cover and pull it out to duct air from the rear wheel wells.

Red, I love the work as well.
As to the fender mods, if you look at alot of racecars over the years they have done this.
Specifically look at the 924GTR LeMans cars and you will get an idea as to what I will be doing to my body.

...and Brians car looks pretty sick with them covered.
On the fenders, I may end up covering my vent at the top (or converting it to a true louver) and cutting out the back for a large vent like most of the true race cars do. My main concern was insufficient weather sealing at the front of the door near the ECU and getting water rammed inside the car right there if driving in the rain. I might work on this some and change it up.

For the gap on top, I want it filled with something solid. I haven't decided between having a piece welded in or just riveting in flat metal like yours. All the venting from the wheel wells will be rearward over the doors/side skirts. I'm also going to duct the rear of the engine bay out the fender gap in front of the doors.
I am deciding between completely blanking the headlight holes or putting a flat piece of lexan there. If I run a 10 or 12 hour enduro (ie: Road Atlanta in Dec), it would be nice to have lights. I would make the lights themselves removable to not carry dead weight normally.
For the computers, the harnesses drop from the top. Why not pivot them up to mount under the dash above the passenger footwell?
